most dragons kill u either with magic breath or melee with haste on.
think draconis is acid breath (correct me if wrong) so shadow armor should help (50% resistance).
but main trick for me is to slow them down or he rips u to shreds. so i always use flail of ages to slow em down and u are almost home then.
u also need true sight and few breaching spells.
alternatively use other well known tricks (traps, lower resistance, finger death, malison, feeblemind , slow?)

Well one of the easier ways to kill him is use Mordenkains sword. I had Edwin cast this before the fight. The dragon seems to want to fight the sword only. And it takes no damage from the dragon. This gives you more time to get of those spells and GW attacks. And was he not a blue dragon???

No Dracon is the blue dragons son, and he is green.

I never really had problems with the dragons. After 1 or 2 tries with each I could beat them easily. But Dracon was different, whenever I thought I had a good plan those stupid shadows he creates always made me have to get rid of them before I could succesfully cast any type of spell I needed.

I eventually beat him but it took awhile. Oh and traps are overrated... I never used the traps trick through any of the game, they are superflous and unnecessary... but to each his own I suppose.

Traps are certainly not overrated. They are very effective. Some may think of them as 'cheese'. I think of them as a thief's only real power. Thieves are pretty much screwed in computer roleplaying games, as their best features are either not utilized, or easy duplicable by the overabundance of magic. This is what thieves have, and I for one do not think they are cheesy in the least bit. They make sense both gamewise and roleplaying-wise. That's what thieves do. Theyre sneaky and they don't fight toe to toe if they don't have to. If they have a chance to set up a trap before someone arrives, or lead them to one, why wouldn't they?

okay with dragons the most important thing is the preparation beforehand: I would prioritize resistance to fear, chaotic commands, chant, and true sight....summon creatures don't really help against draconis(they died immediately after killing his human form). basically sent one fighter in to take the wing buffet and then send the rest in...trick is not to get all your fighters knocked away..always have one of your guys pounding on him....time stop helps to remove his protections, on a side note it also helps to remove those annoying high level abilities (whirlwind only lasts for one round)

If you are going to fight a dragon it is good to have a spell trigger with three lower resistances or two lower res. and on greater malison if you are into save spells.
In ToB my standard tactic against single powerful opponents are: Project Image, Timestop, Improved alacrity, 2-3 lower resistance, and now you cast all your damaging spells. 3 Horrid wiltings usually do the trick.
I used this on draconis dragon form and it worked very well.

My favourite combo against dragons (and anything else) Chain Contingency (on sight) Pierce Shield, Pierce Shield, Power Word Blind. After that you can do anything.

What happens if the only enemy in sight is improved invisble when you have a contingency like that?
