Big Metal Unit

Does the "big metal unit" actually do anything? And how are u supposed to get the golden pantaloons from BG1 into BG2, doesn't all your equipment get stolen in Jon Irenicus's prison/dungeon at the begining of BG2? or does it keep with u. Thinking about starting BG1 with mage and going all the way through again so should I hang on to them or not?

the big metal unit makes you insanely powerful. if you have the pantaloons from bg1 on your character when you import you can find them in jon's dungeon where you gear up.

Basically the Big Metal Unit gives you a Big Armour Bonus, and a Big Powerful Weapon

If someone in your party was carrying the Golden Pantaloons and you import your BG save, you'll find them behind the trapped painting by the Jailer Golem.
