Most liked character

Post by BilboTheHobbit »

After thinking about my options of funniest npc, we have goofy minsc, egoistic edwin, jan the teller of stupid stories and comments, korgan with his brutal sense of humour and the rest... the most charismatic nps must be hands down... Haer'Dalis. I just love his voiceset "The sparrow is ready to fly at your command, my raven". And he has a cool portrait too. I love his melodic voice combined with his almost storytelling speech. He talks like everything was a fairie tale, damn I love him :p

I like his pickposcket comment too -

Whistles as he approaches target, and then:

"What was yours, is now mine."

Also, he's happy when he dies.

I'm sorry, but he is a smug git, and I cannot bring myself to like if. If you turn him down when he offers to join your party, you have to apologise to him if you want him to join later! A git :)

I'd say Imoen. She's always happy, and jokes about anything. That's my kind of character. The complete opposite of BGs Xan (he's in the BG2 tutorial of those of you without BG) :)

While Imoen may not be the most charismatic NPC, she is the one I like best. Loyal to the end, quick-witted, cheerful (even when faced with her evil heritage) ... my little sister is just a joy to be around. :)

Apart from her, hmm ... Minsc is also very likable in my opinion. Like Immy, he's loyal and always good for a laugh, and he has the unique "hamster bonus", of course. Hee hee.

I don't really have much of an opinion about Haer'Dalis since I've never used him.

The game i'm working on now is the first time i've ever used him, so I'm finding out what he's like as it goes along.

i like imoen's voice and portrait a lot, but I haven't used her in a party since BG1. Minsc always has bugged me, and I don't know why but he seems to be crap when I have used him - don't know why, although I imagine he would be good in Bodhi's lair with his new racial enemy - does it change to "dragon" in TOB???

Actually Korgan is my favorite character - I think he's sort of misunderstood, he's really a nice guy, but you know, killing is his business - that thing he says to Viconia about "If it exists, I've killed it, but if it be drow, I've tortured it for days first." - that's just a cover for his warm and fuzzy side.

The characters I just like to have in my party are Imoen (for aforementioned reasons) and Keldorn. Keldorn just sounds really cool and level headed all the time.

I'd have to post a vote for Korgan as well. Valygar is probably my second favorite although I've never kept him around for long. Probably my next time through.

I think it is obvious Minsc is the King of Humorous Remarks.

I am an aerie fan, obviously, and a lot of people like her too, as she always has even though I am terrified out of my mind, I'll do my best attitude I like. and quite frankly, she is a lot of pure spunk, that really cheers you up until you get immy back.

Jaheira always says the right thing, and she is a lot of fun when you have tease dialog options in the harper plot.

for a laugh, look for the early aerie dialog and select the one where you ask her to not turn anyone into a chicken.

some of the jaheira later dialogs are funny if you can choose a tease response. they are the only chars you can have funny with, and the others are a relaviely grim lot. Keldy is too stiff and putitanical, and vaygan is too depressing.

I am getting quite fond of jan, he does not seem as irritating as minsc was, mostly I was irritated at minsc's usefulness...

Minsc is so useless! No holy avenger perk like keldy and I am not particularly fond of holy avenger, any way jan will get it...

Imoen? Imoen! - That voice, it drives me up the wall! "Heya, it's me Imoen." she sounds like on of those desperate girls in high school that would relentlessly follow you around like a dag on a sheep's ass!

Minsc has novelty value, but after 5hrs of "butt kicking for goodness" I would gladly shove a 'Wand of Cloudkill' down his throat.

Most liked? Edwin, he'll dish it out, not over the top and delivers the goods in the comedy department. "I will kill ALL of them. Slowly. With...with HOT.....pokey things and......and coals and...uh...and prods. Yessssss, prods. Many, many prods."

Though I rarely use him for long, Haer Dalis is always quick, pleasant and adds a much-needed touch of romance.

Edwin IS hilarious - I like his "one day...ONE day..." comment - you can't type it and make it as funny as it is when he says it....

I am running the evil party, and they are all so funny - i was in umar hills and I screwed up the dialogue with the guy that gives you the chicken quest, so i wasn't going to be able to get the gem. So i started just attacking the chickens, and the farmer and his wife went hostile on me. I gave Edwin the nod (we have a special nod) and he fireballed the whole area, creating 12 roast chickens, one gem, and two dead farmers - reputation drop 4 points in one moment of frustration.

So then Edwin starts in " I did not think that this group could please me, but I have to admit..I am impressed."
And Viconia goes "I find this arrangement most satisfactory".
The genuine admiration in their voices was just too much :D

Hehe.. ah Edwin... the memories Elminster this, Elminster that.. Give ME two thousand years, a pipe and a pointy hat - I'll kick his ars!"

Edwin: *speaks with familiar*
Familiar: *pokes tongue at Edwin and scury back to Valyissiun*
Edwin: One day..ONE day

- priceless

Edwin can be a nasty bugger but how often do you now laugh at his comments :)

RAts, edwin sounds fun and really cool to have in a party, however, I always play sorc myslef, and with sweet aerie and immy, I've got magic totally covered.

hey, what would happen if I clua consoled in an item...BOO!

If I get that hamster, can I trigger hamster related dialogs and behave like minsc?

I used to say I could make any party work, and get all the funny dialogs. I've since changed my mind, as incompetant chars drive me nuts. minsc has all the disadvantages of paladin, no grand mastery, but does not have the one perk that makes paladins valuable...holy avenger!

Have holy avenger and soul reaver in the same party, and you can kick major ass.

  • Bring 'em on, I ain't done!
  • Hands up, kiddies! Who wants to die?
  • Come on, come on! Let's kill!
  • Kill, kill, kill! Yeah, cool!
  • Let's dance!

Yep, for comedy, Edwin. I love the bracketed mutterings he has :)

Sarcasm, I love sarcasm :)

Oooo, that reminds me Xyx. I really should summon Lilacor into my ToB game so I can see what advice he dishes out for each chapter :)
