Who shall join me?
Right now I play a halfelf chaotic good Fighter/Mage/Thief and I'm looking for the NPCs that I want to use. I think I shall use Jaheira as healer, Korgan as Tank together with Sarevok (when i get him). Edwin will be the mage. But I can have one more in my party. Should that be Anomen, Haer'Dalis or Valygard? Personally i think the thief traps are more powerful then the cleric's quest-spells, but Anomen has more attacks each round than Haer'Dalis. What do you think?
Finally: I,ve heard that it's really difficult to become Jaheira's boyfriend. Are there any things I must do or not do to accomplish this?

First of all, the romance is buggy as hell. Patches usually fix up most of the problems.Originally posted by Thehalfelf:

Secondly, it tends to happen in real-time. ie, resting for 8 hours, will mean of missing of dialogue that may occur during that time.
However I'm one of those who haven't managed to complete the romance. I prefer the dark mysterious type with an evil streak.
BTW- Welcome to GB

you'll probably be OK without Anomen, although it is a LONG time before Jaheira gets more than one 7th level spell.
Haer-dalis works well with Edwin because he can identify everything and cast invisibility purge. He gets more attacks per round with his offensive spin activated. Also you get the use of the improved bard song.
However, I say you should go with Valygar - he is a scout and an extra tough figter for your group, and an extra grtr ww will be very handy.

I have both Anomen and Valygar in my party and like having both around for melee and Anomens summoning and healing abilities. Dumped Jahira way back in SoA, couldn't stand her and never used HD or Ed.
If I had to choose between the two, I'd take Valygar since you already have the cleric role covered and will need another melee'er. He's not a "tank" because he does get killed rather easily in some battles (because of the way I have him outfitted) but I make sure he has plenty of healing potions for quick battlefield recovery. Also, he is very good with the Celestial Fury.

But What about Mazzy? I don't know much about her, except that she can lay on hands and haste herself.8how often can she use these abilities?) Have any played her through ToB? How many Weapon proficiencies did she get? Would you recomend her instead of the other three?
Thanks
Thanks

I disagree - mazzy is not annoying to me, I found her to be very sweet and supportive in her comments, and not a big whiner like some.
She is not just an archer, although she is a very good shot, but she can also tank very well - she has lots of hitpoints and a good dex. I found that with STR enhancing gear and some good full plate she can hang in there as main tank just fine.
Although she has proficiency in short bow and short sword, she does good with just about any weapon because of her low THACO - I had her get prof in hammer and katana as she leveled up, plus I took grtr whirlwind for special ability every time, and by the middle of TOB she had 10!!!

It might be a stretch to get those proficiencies - some have said that if you get her really early (i.e. get to umar hills and the first room of the dungeon) that she will not have built up a lot of proficiencies yet - it's worth a try, but I don't know - proficiencies are her weak point.
As far as mazzy vs. korgan, I love mazzy, she is great, but korgan is definitely better - more HP, better special abilities (rage is great), better proficiencies (axe
), and a higher natural str. I think you could go with either, though, or both, and have a successful game, and either would go well with Valygar stealthing and backstabbing.
BTW your earlier question- Mazzy gets I think some resist fears and some healing, it's like the bhaalspawn abilities, she gets a few of them and they recharge every day. Korgan OTOH gets rage, which makes him immune to so many things, about 3+ times a day.

Drop Jaheira-shes a pretty good healer but a pretty average tank.
Go with Anomen- he's an above average tank:
with Flail of the ages he's great and with mace of distruption +2 and turn undead-the best guy in the game against undead.
plus he's a very good healer.
All this is of course, if you could take his arrogance.
If you realy want a love interest- go with Viconia, her romance is almost Bugfree, good healer, average fighter.

I had Mazzy dual-wielding short swords, and was impressed with the amount of damage she could dish out. I found her special abilities very useful, and she makes a good archer too, with the Gesen Bow. If you take both her and Korgan into your party, they have some interesting interactions.Originally posted by Thehalfelf:
