Where to travel?

Post by average joe »

Well, maybe I'm just too concerned with true roleplaying, but where I should go next has always been a concern of mine in CRPGs. As of now I'm in Shroudgard.

Strangers are trying to kill my character due to his survival of the blimp crash, and I have Virgil breathing down my neck telling me Elder Joachim in Tarrant is the one I should talk too. I think my character would make his way to Tarrant as soon as possible.

On the other hand, I, as the player, want to go to Dernholm to complete some of the quests that have come to my attention. The only problem is that Dernholm is a good number of days out of my way to Tarrant.

I'm not looking for spoilers, but I can't ever decide if I should play as the character would, continuing with the main quest, or if I should go off on side quests, which often take me further from where I should be.

Do any of you ever deal with this? I know time is not much of an issue in this game, but I still can't think of time as not being an issue. I had this same problem in BGI and BGII.

Give me some opinions....

I've never had a problem with investigating the wide, wonderful world. I assume my character has had little exposure to it, and getting out, he or she would naturally want to look around.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Just put yourself in the charachter's position. Do with your character as you would do in his or her place. If your character is anything like mine you will spend as much time as possible in the bars and whenever possible relieve him/herself of all clothing and/or create as much dimamite as possible and then systematicly destroy everything in every town except for the bars and brothels. Remember to concentrate the explosives at the churches and schools. Oh and one last thing, getting drunk and pelting a guys house with potatoes (or grenades if you prefer) is a good nightly practice.
When logic and proportion,
Have fallen sloppy dead,
And the White Knight is talking backwards,
And the Red Queen's "off with her head!"
Remember what the doormouse said.

Personly My most recent Halfling found virgil a tad iritating but somehow could not bring hiimself to give him the boot - istead went about doing the oposite of any adivice virgilhad to give - He of course went to dernholm first then blackroot then ashbury then + all the places he noticed on the map finaly he arived at tarant but never picked up virgils telegram (probably theh only thing in tarant which wasn't nailed down he didn't try to steal) so basicaly his advice to you go for what is the most fun - i mean your in this for you not virgil!
