I'm not new with Baldur's Gate but I am new with the dragon and i can't kill them like Firkraag and the dragon in Umar hills I just don't get it maybe it is because my partymembers are low lvl because my babarian is lvl 10 and minsc and Keldorn to. Jaheira lvl 12 and Jan and Edwin 12 to. And where can i get some real XP not by summoning or something like that i want real fights.

In case you haven't noticed there are many many many strategies on this web site about killing dragon's but the easiest way
, some may not prefer it....
SPOILER
Cast feeblemind on the dragon, if it fails do it again it doesn't even turn aggressive, if you fail all the spells, reload and do it again until it stays, and hack the fella to pieces

stupid dragons cant do a thing - fire from out of their line of sight and gas em up good and proper. about 10 to 15 clouds does the trick. i managed to get aerie with 5 in her book, and used up a wand too. worked both times, although with thaxyllia i used an incendiary cloud scroll and less cloudkills

All of those strategies seem good (although the cloudkill one wouldn't really sit well with a good party). Traps work VERY well against the shadow dragon and firkraag. As an aside: would traps work against the black dragon? Goes hostile as soon as you talk to it, or already is hostile, so you couldn't place the traps in advance. Since dragons don't move, you couldn't lure it into your traps either. Or could you??
Anyway...The lower resist is my favoured strategy. Spread your party out, with fighters in close. The shadow dragon needs two lower resists before it takes all the damage from magic missile, firkraag needs three. Flame Arrow works against the shadow one and does more damage than MM, but doesn't work against Firkraag.
And that, is my long, rambling, pretty boring, advice for killing dragons.
cheers.
PS. Don't forget fire resistance against firkraag. helps a lot, cos he's bound to get some flames off against you.
