No, you can be a paladin with 7 or even 3 (and pushing your luck since low stats gives penaltys in 3rd and NwN uses 3rd rules) in CHA.

What penalties do you get when you've got a below average CHA and where is it possible to read those rules anyway ??

BTW, in BG2 I had 90 points to distribute and once I tried a MP game with my friend and created a Fighter/Thief with 94 points.

It is a bit annoying but when we travel as a group we can have someone with high CHA etc and brawny types etc.

Not sure what kind of character I want to play yet. Definitely a chaotic good alignment though. My BG & BG2 character is a Ranger/Cleric multi class. Not sure if I want to take my Bhaalspawn into NWN for Multiplayer or just keep her single player. Anyone know if there will be some cool new classes? I know nada about 3e rules. UGh!

If you think about create a character in BG2 with the stats you want. When you take it across the stats should be good.

@Saint X. Thoese who import from BG2 will either have to tone down their characters to NWN level, or play with as "unoffical" character instead and thereby not be allowed into official severs.

Good stats Weasel. What other stats are other people going to do for characters? Any classes, just rememeber minimum requirements.

Maybe limit the points to 78 okay?

Nippy, have you seen a straight answer on the total points? Or is this the most we have to go on as of now?

Look people this is 3rd , not 2nd.
In 3rd classes stats work diferent that in 2nd.

Right now, this is how it works.

You start with 8 in all stats (and 8 gives a -1 of penalty) and get 25 points to alocate to your stats.

NwN uses point buy to vault characters, official vault characters uses the 25 point buy to make sure that nobody cheats.
Right now, its really confusing since NwN is still in develepent and its still months away from Beta.
Even 25 is not final since the word is from 25 to 30 points buy, it will be resolved after inicial testing.
25 point buy is one of the ways to create a character and if you like to try to see how it works, well there is the "D&D Character Generator Demo" progam in BG II: SoA CD 1 that creates characters using 3rd rules.

How 'bout just calling this "The Band of the Banshee"? I have no HTML exp, but I'd love to contribute and participate where needed.

I play all kinds of characters, but can settle on one for the purpose of the guild, if needed. I usually play lawful good characters. That is..., when I'm not a brooding, mage-killing assassin. :D

I love the idea of gaming with fellow GB community members.

Okay people.
I've decided to play Chaotic Neutral for a chance (maybe Chaotic Good) and most likely a Mage with the following stats
(class is not determined completely yet)
STR: 10
DEX: 10
CON: 10
INT: 17
WIS: 13
CHA: 9
= 25 points.
(it could maybe be changed to a sorcere, in wich case the stats would be 9,10,10,11,12,17)

For guild name - it could also be "Guild of the Banshee".

@Rail: I think you should play your mage-killing assasian if you like - there should be room for all of us :D

This wouldn't be possible with the current way to distribuate points (they could change it many times yet though :) )

Start would be 8 for all stats and the cost of changing them would be:

9 will cost 1 point
10 will cost 2
11 will cost 3
12 will cost 4
13 will cost 5
14 will cost 6
15 will cost 8
16 will cost 10
17 will cost 13
18 will cost 16

After what I've read they will most likely give between 25-30 points. (currently 25)
(I haven't been able to figure out - if you'll be able to get points by reducing some stats under 8)

@ Saint, it's not that I want it to come out early I want to know more is all. What I mean is that we get more ideas of the plot etc and characters. Maybe also an example of a created character.
