FLATTENED

Post by bogotter »

I read as much advice as possible on how to kill a drogon, and decided to have a go at the shadow dragon at temple ruins. My party is around lvl 10.

I went in, cast cloudkill into the darkness, dragon starts taking some damage (i start to snigger) suddenly, he charges at me! i expected the guy to suffer in the fog of war slowly without me needing to do ne thing! Whats going on??

I tried other tactics like summoned pets, who quickly got squashed, before the dragon turned on my party, whose melee attacks seemed useless.

I need a lower resistance scroll, and a minor sequencer 4 magic missiles..i cant find them ne where...the guy in waukeens promenade doesnt have either. Anyone know where i cud get them??

I really wanted to kill the thing but it seems impossible :(

LOL! As soon as the developers realized from forums like this (which they monitor) how people were cheesing their way through the battle, using Cloudkill, they added better AI to a patch. It's also patched into the ToB add-on. :D

I don't know if you want to be taking on a dragon just yet with that group. It seems like your barely out of irenicus prison and already in umar hills. What about all the quests in athkatla as well as d'arnise keep.

A great tactic against dragons is first to cast magic resistance (5th level cleric spell) on them and start to use lower resistance.

Anyway, I'd wait a little to slay the shadow dragon.

In Waukeens promenade, there's a seller out in the open just over the den of seven vales inn, he's called smthsmth book keeper, he has lower resistance scroll for sale, maybe more than one, don't remember.

Lvl 10 is a little unexperienced for the shadow dragon ... let Jaheira summon as many fire elementals as possible, move fighters and elementals close together, haste the whole bunch, protect them from fear, cast anything else on them that helps and then attack.

If you can't make it, leave the place and come back later.

Flanders, I'm not that inexperienced. I've done de arnise hold, unseeing eye, renal bloodscalp's quests, some jaheira quests plenty of smaller ones.

Locke, I went to that guy before, he doesnt seem to have it which is very annoying. Nevermind, I'll see what else I can do for the moment...trademeet maybe??

ok, trademeet would certainly be a good place to go. Another thing you can do is the first level of watchers keep with the exception of the end of the first level. There is a lot of money and other good stuffs there. druids grove, windspear hills, get the daystar also.

I did this last night with a pretty similar party (exp wise)

PC Paladin (Lvl 9 or 10 I think)
Keldorn
Anomen
Jan
Nalia
Areie
All roughly L10 ... not at home to check

I used the other cheese method of stating a dialogue, pausing and then force attacking, hitting with MM from the casters. Worked a treat with no deaths (nearly though!)

Try that
