Good evening, all.

I'm just looking for a suitable avatar - any suggestions?
Howdy, CE! How ya doin'?

The pic I used for my avatar is one that I was trying to use for my Ranger/Cleric named Hotaru in IWD. It was too horizontal rectangular to fit in IWD, but with a tiny bit of editing in MSPaint, it works here. :D

The point of what I just said is that you might try using a pic you used for a char in a game. Didn't you say that your username is one you've used for a char in the past? ;) :D

CE: Actually I was hoping to buy you several glasses of wine, but if a latte is all you would like, I can be flexible. The other things are negotiable, but you’d better consult your SO before making any commitments.

So how goes the research? You haven’t worn yourself out too badly, have you?

Comes back in to check on the place......see that Ned is passed out with the bears  .....wait, one bear is missing.....oh well, one of the patrons will surely find it. :D

okay boys, install the hot tub in the corner in the back....watch it....not to close to the.....*worker falls into croc pit, loud snapping and screaming is heard, followed by silence and a loud belch.*

Damn, I hate when that happens.....I wasn't going to feed them tonight.

starts the workers installing the hottub and the stage.

bellydancers come into the room

The stage will be ready soon ladies, in the meantime, make yourselves at home, get to know the customers, and have some shine.

@CE, I am doing fine, just a littlebusy as you can see. :D

@Dot: Thanks, I'll be looking for some suitable picture - I just tried one, but it was impossible to see what it was in 50*50 - it was actually a C Elegans.

@SS: Hi! I'm fine, just working a lot. How about you?

C Elegans was indeed the name I gave my ranger prot in BG, but I always used Viconia's portrait since I liked the blue skin colour :)

@Waverly: Alas, wine will make me fall asleep with a bad headache quite quickly due to my lack of the ezyme alcoholdehydrase. A latte is fine. I don't think I need to consult my SO - I'm sure he would appreciate a new comp and a nice house as much as I ;) :D

Research is going extremely well, unfortunately this is always tend to wear us poor researchers out. Ironically, I've recently been loosly connected to a new project about the burn-out syndrome (we call it fatigue depression, since the current hypothesis is that burn-out due to long term stress is related to affective disorders like depression/dystymia.) I hope I won't end up as a subject...

How is work going for you?

CE: I had forgotten about your intolerance to alcohol. A terrible affliction, to be sure. Work for me is busy, and I’ve been introduced to the wonders of Projects Without Budgets™. A miraculous concept where you do great things with no time or money. As soon as I get it figured out, I’ll be sure to teach you all about it.

Bloodstalker: Those belly dancers have an awful lot of... um... belly. Where did you find them?

LOL, although not very funny really (your work situation, I mean). Sounds more apt for theology than technology. It's also somewhat reminiscent of Swedish public service and health care projects ;)

No belly dancing for me tonight - I'm enjoying to watch :D Belly dancers are supposed to have a belly, and broad hips.

I'm considering to give a performance at my doctoral dissertation dinner. It would just be so incredible unsuitable :D :D

I ain't doin' too bad. I'm working on replacing my computer, since it's quickly dying. The main hard drive(only 8gigs) is nearly dead, so I'm getting a new case/motherboard/processor and putting my 40 gig drive(and all my other add-ons) into it. My monitor burned out(literally) last night, so I'm getting a new 17" flatscreen(not LCD). My mouse was replaced a while back, so it's fine; but my keyboard is also going to be replaced soon. Once I'm done, I'll have a comp with a P4 1.5Ghz processor, 384MB RAM, 64MB Video card, and 40GB Hard drive. :D

SS,

step away from the P-4 and buy and athlon processor. It may, however, require a few other changes.

Yeah, Flanders is right... Athalon's are better, I'm using one myself. They're more reliable, and compatable.

CE: Get out. You wouldn’t actually do that at your own dinner would you? Not that I object, it just seems like it would send out rather bizarre signals. Ah, what the hell, it’s your night, right? Why not show them how much intelligence, talent, and beauty can be held in such a small package. ;)

The only problem with a lot of these processors is that they go out of date quite quickly. Even if you buy top of the line, they are usually out of date within three months. So, you do have to be careful, and think of affordablity, and usage.

Sorry, Ned, but I can't be too picky. I'm on a budget, even though my parents are buying it. I know Athlons are better and I'd like an Athlon, but a P4 is good enough and what I can get.

Yes, that's why I consider it :D

Dissertation dinners in Sweden are actually rather informal, usually you invite not only colleguages and your opponent, but also some friends and family members. After all the speaches etc, there's always space to party a bit. My closest co-worker played the violin at his dinner last year, and considering his playing style and choice of melodies (some Swedish traditional fold-songs), I think a little belly dance would be less exotic ;) You should have seen the face expression of his American opponent :D

The doctoral promovation dinner on the other hand, is very formal. It's held annually in the Blue Hall, the same location as the Nobel dinners. You also have to wear a really stupid looking hat :(

@SS: Good luck with your computer, sounds good :) I'm also getting a new comp at work, but at home I only use my laptop.

Time to catch some sleep - see you all later and good night :)
