Dear Buck,

I agree with many of the previous posts that a number-of-post-based title system, would probably lead to increasing one-word posting in order to obtain a higher title.

I very much like Delacroix's/Cavazelli's idea of having a combined system, and IMO it would be even more funny if one part of the title was based on number of posts and one part was choosen or voted for by other members :D But perhaps a system like that is not feasible?

In any case, I'm personally quite content with the current system, and should any more titles be included, I think they should not be hierarchic but rather qualitative cathegories with funny names/titles.

Say you get 10 points for every month since you registered, one point for every 100 posts, and three points for ever star of your average member rating.

Then create a scale something like this:

1-25 points = Newbie
26-50 points = Member
51-100 = Exalted Member
101-150 = Ubermember
151-250 = Grand Member
251+ = Old Salt

Sure that's complicated, but so is the BCS and people seem content with that.

I like this idea and Delacroix's idea also. either one would be cool i think. that way all of us who have been around awhile but dont spam quite as often as others would not get stuck with a title like 'newbie'. (though i dont think i would want to be called an old salt :D ) i think basing titles on just post count would lead to more posts of low quality as the others were saying.

Wouldn't it be possible to make some kind of amalgamation of all of these ideas?

I kind've like CM's idea about Buck and the mods getting together to give titles to people.

But how many do visit on a regular basis? Still would be mutch though!

Perhaps, instead of the star's we used to have, we can now vote at people like this:

1. Lousy member
2. Below avarage member
3. Avarage member
4. Good member
5. Very respected member

(these are just examples)
The avarage will be what you will be.

This way, you'll be judged by your actions and not your quantity of posts.

No not 4000 members.
Not everyone gets a custom title.
Only those that are deserve one.
And the mods decide or something.
Not all 4000 members get one.
It is a reward type thing.

Indian names?
Thorin?

Oh yeah the mods would have the right to make it funny but not insulting or mean.
That would just create bad blood.

Well you can have examples where people can do it out of spite, but usually it is done to make fun or have a joke.

I can post mine, if people want as an example.
