If you're playing Core Rules or higher and don't re-roll your levels you get d12/level which gives an expected value of 6.5. Either way you get 3/level for levels 10+. So for a level 18 Barbarian:
Normal Core
Con 17 159 112.5

If you're playing Core Rules and have a Con of 19 (and I have the Con bonuses right) you're right on target.
The barbarian extra hp are a bigger bonus compared to fighters if Normal rules are used since they get 2hp more per level rather than an expected 1hp more.
mine is like level 25 and he has about 206 hit points if i remembered correctly con 19. takes a lil while to get em killed
Never been so much into the spellcasterstuff (similar problem made me quit with Heroes III), so I go for the fighter/barbarian/paladin, just hack, slash and chop through everything. I have admit that druid/fighter and cleric/fighter are good ones too, it adds just a bit more, but only if you can use them as good tanks. It's probably the rage in me which makes me use only fightertypes
