Count me in.
Besides since it would also involve hacking some undead, he doesn't see any reason not to deny himself the opportunity to do so.
I'm with you, guys. As far as this foreigner is concerned, he thinks that going with the group would be the key in solving his problem in getting back home.Originally posted by thantor3
So coming up soon here we will be heading out for the Shadow Master's lair. Since within the structure of the story it would seem illogical for the Dark Flames to take a group of strangers with them, what ideas do you have for your characters in this situation? There is the Georgi abduction, the evil in the keep itself, Bloodstalker's chamber and so on. In my last posts (and Gwally did a great job of this as well), there was a bit of structure introduced to help explain recent events. With so many characters and authors, I want to make sure we are all on the same page and at least have a sense of where we mutually would like the story to go.
Thanks.

Does anybody want to help me get Aegis to normal again, or do I have to find a way myself?
I think he'll have to pass the night as chicken in any case.
Thantor will help you, Mysteria. Send me a PM with your ideas.
Those who will play with kitties must expect to be scratched.

Aegis should be transformed relatively soon. The keep is not a good place for livestock - remember, our sheep were eaten by a dragon.... However, there is no reason that Aegis needs to be returned to his elven form anytime soon.... A potted plant might look nice in Mysteria's room.
Is Fang licking his chops? Why is he staring at the chicken like that?

Attn: New characters
Just to echo this sentiment: When Gwally says that he isn't sure he should trust the new characters coming to the keep, especially not until he has fought beside them a little, he is only saying these things while in character. I, personally, have no problem with the new writers and their characters, and look forward to sharing many adventures with them. Aegis stating that he will join the battle with the Abomination is just fine with me - it is in his character. I am not trying to cut you guys out of a good fight, even though my character is trying to do just that.Originally posted by thantor3

Abomination Background
The screams were very loud here, almost a choir of torment. Off to his left, the tunnel sloped downward and he knew this led to the area that had a special interest for the drow mage. Hugging the walls, he slowly made his way down the slope. As he rounded the corner, he saw an entranceway that was guarded by two heavily armed orcs. They were hypervigilant and agitated, perhaps from the screaming, eyes darting everywhere. Then he heard a thud and the sounds of running. "I need some help over here!", came reverberating up the tunnel. The two orcs raced off, seemingly glad to have somewhere to direct their nervous energy. Thantor quickly moved into the entranceway and looked into the adjourning room. As he peered inside, he could see that it wasn't a room at all, but a cavernous pit. The smell was horrendous, and he placed his hand over his mouth and nose as he moved inside to get a better look. As he looked over the edge, Thantor froze in horror. Below him rose a squirming, heaving swamp of bodies, a putrid mass of tortured flesh. The writhing mountain was a throng of plants and creatures -- rotting vegetation, bears, gibberings, carrion crawlers, myconids, goblins, and others so decayed he could not distinguish them. The creatures at the bottom of the heap barely moved, many of them already dead. But the ones near the top screamed and moaned, melted together in freakish agony, hundreds of tortured, dying eyes gazing out into the semi-darkness. Then he saw the human faces and the hands extended, as if begging to be released. Thantor dropped to his knees, nausea washing over him. Collecting himself with difficulty, he darted out of the pit, running back up the tunnel toward the cells, the screams echoing in his ears.
Then, just to confuse the issue...
"As you may be aware, Moander's avatar was known as the Abomination, a rotting mass of vegetation and carrion. It could be that the Shadow Master is planning to revive Moander, but there is also another possibility. The presence of the drow could indicate that something potentially more sinister is afoot. If the Time of Troubles did anything, it was to impress on the gods and goddesses their dependence on the strength and number of their worshipers."
"You are thinking this could actually be masking some sort of power play, a way to increase worshipers for another diety by pretending that Moander has risen?" asked Anicka. Thantor nodded approvingly. Intelligent.
"Exactly. This whole situation could have nothing to do with Moander... and everything to do with Lolth."

"Excellent question. Let me give you a little background on the Abomination so that my answers will make more sense. According to my intel, the cultist are constructing the Abomination as a receptacle for Moander. I believe that Loth is involved as well, probably to revive his essence from the Astral Plane. In order for Moander to possess this avatar form, the mound of rotting material has to be at least 30 feet in diameter. Once animated, it is a juggernaut of destruction. It has large and small tendrils each of which ends in a lipless, many fanged maw that can speak as well as bite, rend flesh, and entangle opponents. The tendrils can also enter any body orifice and possess the person's mind and body. These tendril also have the ability to disgorge a *seed of Moander* within the victims body and then withdraw. Eventually, the seed bursts, releasing spores." Gwally swayed slightly, deathly pale, but he was buoyed by the thought that composting was taking place somewhere on Faerun.
Thantor continued. "The Abomination, unfortunately, has a very high armor class and is capable of overrunning, swallowing, or crushing its victims. Twice per day, the Abomination can vomit forth a shambling mound and once every three days a gibbering mouther, which will do its bidding. While it can cast no spells itself, once it possesses a being, it can have them cast any spell they know, its intelligence and wisdom rising to match that of any of its currently possessed minions." He made a mental note to ask Simbul if there was any way the Abomination could be poisoned, maybe in a "trojan horse" fashion.
"There are two ways it can be killed. One of its favorite attacks is to swell up with swamp gas and attack with a giant maw. However, in this form it is very susceptible to fire. It also requires massive amount of compost. If it doesn't receive what it needs, after two days it will collapse into dust and putrid slime." He smiled. "Shouldn't be much of a problem, eh Gwally?"
There was also a dream sequence that showed part of the battle
Georgi felt herself slammed against the slimy stone wall, a rotting tentacle of regurgitated body parts, sludge, and decayed vegetation pinning her against the fetid rock. Struggling fiercely, she quickly became aware that if she did not free herself, her chest would be crushed in a matter of seconds. Crying out in rage and frustration, she attempted to hack at the tentacle with her sword but could not get enough momentum for an effective strike. As the blackness threatened to engulf her, she caught a glint of light... then -- release! Dropping to her knees, panting, she saw the Mordenkainen's Sword swing back to towards its owner and Georgi nodded her thanks to Simbul. She quickly scanned her situation. Anicka was down, her skull split wide, presumably dead. Jennabard was badly wounded and she, along with a small contingent of Aglarondian regulars, where pinned down to her left. All around them the unstable cavern boiled with frenzied drow and orc warriors. Thantor had wedged himself into a vertical crevice in the rock, seemingly in a daze. The beads of sweat on his forehead, however, betrayed the fact that he was actually locked in an intense psionic battle with the Abomination before them. Only Simbul seemed in her element, her wild, tangled hair and tattered robes flowing around her as she levitated in the air, spell combinations lashing out around her like whips. She was indeed something awesome to behold. Georgi drew herself into a crouch and quickly moved back into a defensive position, protecting both herself and Thantor. It seemed like ages ago when she and Thantor were safe, back at the Keep. Before their excursion into hell. Before... the Simbul...
