Browsing this site it seems a bow uses the proficiency Two-Handed Weapon. The archer can only raise this by one, but gets some bonuses every 3 levels. A Fighter could raise this proficiency by 3 and by the look of it gain -2 to speed and Criticals on both 19 and 20.
Question is:
Do bows use proficiency Two-Handed Weapon or Two Weapon Style ?
Would a fighter be just as good as an Archer using bows ?

Well, kinda...
you see, the ranger kits can choose racial enemy and you get killer mage disrupting ability, supposedly better than even the wiz slayer kits at high levels.
but the fighter if you want to can get grand mastery at it, with really good attack and hit and damage bonuses.
so i guess it all kinda evens out, but I have had people say the archer kit is awesome if you have some summons or tanks holding the enemy off. I personally gave mazzy a killer str belt and gave her grand mastery in axes, along with the granmastery in short bows she came with. this makes her a dual threat, short bows like gesen or what not for ranged attack and at close range switch to axes for close up work. but notice this also gives her good ability to use the azuredge for undead work and the wierd sounding axe in tob for the killer knockback effect. so when my sorc casts an inc clud down the ways, there, she can knock monsters back into cloud for a little more basting.
personally, I think the warrior kit is more versatile, and klorgan is the superb example. instead of putting profs in crossbow or some other ranged weapon, continue grand mastery in axes and hammers and get dwarven thrower and axe that throws in tob. his one flaw is inability to use azureedge for undead whacking. cannot be used by evil.
blasphemy, but in many ways for my style of play, using summons to hold monsters in place or whack with my main kensai char and holy avenger while rest of party take potshot.
