Not able to finish...
Not able to finish...
I started this wonderful game with my neutral half-elf properly imported from BG1. After returning from underdark i decided to give my party a more evil touch so i grabbed Korgan and Edwin. Then i lost feeling for the whole thing and started a new paladin-based lawful good party with three own pcs. I came as far as starting off toward Brynlaw. Then i came to think of how cool it would be to make a drow party and did so. I came as far as Spellhold and took a long look at Korgan and his axe... So i made a 'little people' party with 3 dwarfs, mazzy, Jan etc., and now i wonder if i'll ever finish this game. None of my friends have this problem. Anyone know of a cure?

Concerntrate on a single goal, and hate Irenicus with all your heart and think how nice it would be to kill him.
Alternitively you could just get 'powergamer' syndrome, going through the game several times 'till you can kill Fikraag with one Swipe of Crom Fayer

I'd have to get drunk every night and talk about virility...And those Pink elephants I'd see.
I get like this with a lot of games. You either spend ages getting to the end and get "bored". Or you near the climax *ahem* and fear to finish it off just in case it means the game is finished.
Plus there is lotsa re-playability with different parties.

I have a tendency to do that as well. I took a sorceror into the third chapter.... realized that my spellbook sucked. Made a Paladin, decided I didn' want to do that, finished the game with a monk, made another sorceror, who is currently just about to do the last of the thief quests, and then I decided I wanted a cleric/mage with a small party. This one's much more enjoyable because I've successfully resisted the temptation to hack my PCs.
Hacked PCs are less likely to be seen through the entire game, IMHO. The ones that you come by honestly, you give more attention to, and have more respect for. At least I do.
Thoughts?

I have a similar problem... I've finished twice, but every time I start again, I think, well, I want to have this instead of that.
After Soloing a Fighter/Thief/Mage, well, I want to solo other characters, but if you don't have thief, well, it's a little more difficult.
So... basically, I haven't played since last Sunday. I've began my third year of University now and decided that there is to be no playing of games during the week. I must say, it's working wonders! I now really really really want to go play, but can't until later this afternoon when I get back from Uni
It's given me some time to think about the things I want to do... so at this point in time, I'm gonna go with 4 custom made PC's and just get Valygar when I need the Planar Sphere, dump him, get Cernd for the druid grove, dump him, etc etc...
I'm still in the process of deciding who to take on my four PC time... Although a Cleric/Ranger is definitely coming along!

Any body passing through solid matter will leave a perforation conforming to its perimeter. Also called the silhouette of passage, this phenomenon is the speciality of victims of directed-pressure explosions and of reckless cowards who are so eager to escape that they exit directly through the wall of a house, leaving a cookie-cutout-perfect hole. The threat of skunks or matrimony often catalyzes this reaction.

Pleased to hear I am not alone in my illness... I finally sucked it up on my 5th try and finished. Here's my take: first, play your way out Irenicus's Dungeon and save the moment you hit Waukeen's Promenade. Put that save game in a very special place. Then think about a style/ party makeup you'd like to try (I'm currently playing all rangers/druids for a kick). Grab some six-sided dice. Actually roll the character you'd like to lead this party. Use Shadowkeeper to edit your saved game accordingly. While this will not prevent you from occasionally running out of interest, I have found that it has made most of the encounters much more challenging (I'm hitting many of the quests at a much lower level than before, and with mostly unfamiliar party capabilities). Pretty fun so far, thought I do have 5 or 6 games going at once. ;-)

Well, since last friday night, I started this party:
4 custom made PC's
Ranger/Cleric Protagonist (Dual classed at Level 8 into a cleric, now level 8/9)
Paladin (Inquisitor)
Assassin (Halfling - coz he looks cool as an assassin and has namarra +2 at the moment... should go to guarded compound later on and grab celestial fury)
Mage (Conjurer) - love these guys!
I've been playing since Friday night and they are starting to get a bit more poweful now. My assassin just got a critical hit with x4 Backstab on the mage in the temple sewers (118 damage), and the rest fell quickly to my Inquisitor and insect plague from my cleric/ranger. The mage pounded from afar with magic missiles and fire arrows... was really an awesome sight!
It's really a great party and encompasses all of the necessary skills that a party needs. After I soloed a Fighter/Mage/Thief, well, I wanted three single characters, a fighter, a thief, and a mage. But I replaced the fighter with the paladin, and added a ranger/cleric.
It's good fun!
