Map troubles (TOSC)

Post by Vivien »

Hello all! :)

I was hoping someone could help me a bit :)

I have played through BG1 and the TOSC a few times, and this is the first time this has happened to me. I recently reinstalled windows on my computer, and had to reinstall BG1. Playing through has been great, and I'm now at level 7's, right before re-entering Baldur's Gate and finishing off Sarevok.

The thing is, I usually try to play at least some of the TOSC areas to be able to say I did :) , but I have been denied. I have the farm with the zombies, but not Ulgoth's Beard (Don't you get to that town through the upper right corner of the zombie farm?). I also don't have Durlag's tower. I mean, I finally managed to get through that monstrosity due to encouragement from this very board , and was aching to try again. ;)

I have tried Gate Keepering myself there, but Gate Keeper doesn't offer Ulgoth's Beard or Durlag's Tower as options. When I load the mission pack save game (the one that they give you with the TOSC expansion pack), it puts the party in Ulgoth's Beard, but when you check it's location of the map, it's shown as the upper right corner of Baldur's Gate! :D

I couldn't remember if one had to be a certain level or chapter, but I was pretty sure that's not the problem. :)

I have reinstalled the game (in fact rebought the game, as I left the old one on the floor and it got stepped on too much) :D Alas, no change.

Any advice? :)

Sounds like serious bug!
You did remmember to install ToSC, right? :D (just kidding) ;)

For Durlag's tower all you need to do is go to it from touching maps. You don't need to do Ulgoth's beard.

HI and thanks :) as to Durlag's tower, yep, I know :) I tried coming at it from AR 4900, AR4400, AR4500 and AR 5000. :)

Rofl! Yep, I installed TOSC, I mean I wouldn't be able to get to the zombie farm without it :) I got the new three cd pack, with my own collectable Sarevok picture! I know, I know, that is just too wonderful :D It's currently on the floor with the old cd's ;)

patches

so you've installed bg and totsc. did you start a new game after reinstalling the game. what patches both official and unofficial are you using.

Problem is, if it is a bug, it is probably inherent in the saved game so reinstalling the software might not help (i.e. to say, you would reinstall the game and then import the save game files)

have you tried looking here

Has anyone played with add-on patch?? The one that adds more to BG1 and TOSC.

Vivien, I hope you don't mind if I use your thread for my question.

Yes, that's it. I want to try it, but wanted to know if anyone else has tried it. Mainly to find out how buggy it was or is?

Hi Ned :) *hug*

Actually , no new news, but I'm going to try the patch you gave. Last night was Buffy ;) You know, girls get together and drink wine and watch a woman kick ass, so no computer gaming last night, but hopefully tonight :)

Hello!

The patch didn't do it, but the site did help. Doing a search I found that I needed to go to Mconfig in my Baldur's Gate folder, open a saved game and load the normal map. Ulgoth's Beard and Durlag's Tower both show now, so the game can go on. :)

Thanks :)

When you've installed baldur's gate, and then install Tales Of The Sword Coast, The game askes you if you want to convert you're savegames to ToTSC.
When you find a magic item, is this blue???
If not you haven't converted you're savegames, and i recommand

Uninstalling BG&ToTSC (backup you're savegame)
Installing BG
Copying you're savegame in
Installing ToTSC
And YES to convert

Hope this helps you're problem.
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.
