The Spooty Theives

Post by sorcerer_wraith »

I have recently sided with Bodhi (great teeth, nice smell, basically a top knotch act) and she has sent me to resuce...umm...some person from the shadow theives (ok guys, snazzy dressers). The problem is they have these -really- powerful mages with their little attack forces. The mage is totally immune to magic and normal weapons, and she always casts "slay living",so you can guess how well that goes down with my group (actually,my group is the one that goes down).So......any hints on how to beat the mages,or even if the guy i'm looking for is on the first or second floor? (tried both floors, same problem). In short HELP ME!!!!plz?

Just do what I do, use cloud kill and run! I think area-effect spell goes through.

If not then use a wand of monster summoning to waste his spells.

Summon skeletons if you are so worry about slay living, you know, cause they are undead. :D

At first, protection from normal weopons shouldn;t be a problem, every one should use magic ones by now (or maybe some normal arrows)
Try different tactics, and like Samcu just said, cloadkill is a rather handy spell, also try disrupting the mage, use insectplaque (druidspell) or just some plain old magic missiles.
Or first do some other quests and go back when you're a higher level.
Have you tried backstabbing, that often kills a mage in one hit so you shouldn't have to wory about that anymore.

Ring of ram is also good for disrupting spells (you can get 2 by a little trick)
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

thanks again for the help, but cloud kill didnt quite do the job i was looking for (nothing to the mages and killing MY group instead, ingrate spell....~goes off grumbling~ ) But what i did find handy was the death ward spell,so the death spell did diddly squat. Now i have another question.......when the mage casted that spell on my group and it did nothing, three spirit thingys still came up like they had died,so i want to know if i should also try casting death ward on the bugs or whatever on the floor to stop them from dieing,i mean they have a life too!
thanks again
