To find out where to place the stones, click on the appropriate "point" of the star of the portal. Then just outside the point, place the right gem:
Flawless Moonstone = Night
Flawless Waterstar = Sea
Flawless Diamond = Earth
Flawless Sunstone = Day
Flawless Star Sapphire = Heaven
Hope this helps!
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...
What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Do you have the tarnished gems or the gems that have been converted?
I'd have to get drunk every night and talk about virility...And those Pink elephants I'd see.

The gems one originally picks up from around the level are tarnished, you have to place them in a chest to revert them to their original form, then you pick them up from all the altars (with those annoying mages guarding them) dotted around the level. I will exlain more if needs be

Originally posted by Mr Sleep The chest is in one of the rooms off from the main caverns. You will know it because it is the room with all the minatour' in it.
@Mr Sleep.
Again thanks.
I can't belive i missed that damb chest and didn't see it in the first place. When i found it, i felt so stupid, ..
Anyway, finished TotL, and now back to HoW. Just got the the final battle and that's it.

Don't worry i felt equally silly, it took too long, although the Curnagon did die repeatedly which made my Neutral Good heart much the happier
So you figured out the ring thing, that took me a while as well

Yep, i got the ring thing right away.
I got to say, that the final battles in both TotL and HoW, were much easier that the final battle in IWD, or is it just me.
Getting ready now to start the whole thing again now, only with a party of 2: a ranger/cleric & a mage/thief.

IWD end battle was definately more difficult, Behlifet was a major pain. The end of HoW was difficult enough, but it was kind of anti-climactic.
Perhaps you should try Heart of Fury
