sound problem

Post by Melkor »

this problem is really annoying and i hope someone knows how to fix it.
it has happened to me twice now, once when i entered the planar prison and now again when i am in firkraggs (sp?) dungeon. What happens is that the sound effects start, then get very loud very quickly until they end in a very very loud drone. I cant find a way to disable this. Has it happened to anyone else and is it able to be fixed. Oh btw i am using a sb live on winxp.

Melkor,

I think it is a problem which is in your system (ie not a game 'bug' as such) Do you have the latest drivers for your SB Live card and the latest version of DirectX? WIth all the latest drivers installed if it still happens, you might need to seek further help. - Curdis !

This happened to me - I had the same card. It turns out my card was dying, I found a tempororay way around this by disabling ambient sound.

Have you run a sound test in DxDiag? This was where I found my SB card was failing on the hardware buffering. Try a driver update too. :)
