what does that mean?
announcing iwd II so short before the awaited release of neverwinter nights..
i think they want to keep the community busy, because nwn will be massively delayed (my guess: mid Q3 /2002)
anyway, does anyone know what exactly the massively modified infinity engine means?
or when the website will be there?

NWN is already done. It's been held up because of contractual disputes.
IWD II will be a much simpler game. It's basically a hack-and-slash using 2D backgrounds, like IWD I. Shouldn't require anywhere near the effort of BG2 or NWN.
Looking forward to it, too.

People have been saying that they're blowing smoke up our @sses on the Bioware boards. Even though the legal issues between Interplay and Bioware have been resolved, they still say the game won't be released for another three or four months. They claim that they just aren't ready to release anytime soon (marketing, QA, localization and distribution along with further tweaking are their offical reasons), but if I'd love to call them on that if you'd share your source of info. I'm glad we'll be starting from scratch in IWD2. I don't need to bring my 30th level Heart of Fury party bedecked with an arsenal of magical weaponry into a brand new game to have fun. Besides, I'm looking forward to having a party consisting of the unusual new races and kits available. Drow and Tieflings haven't been playable races before, and the Dreadmaster of Bane sounds sweet.Originally posted by Mirk

i tend to grow kinda attached to the portrait/stats/proficiencies of the character, as well as his playing style - what he does and how he does it (sort of in-game personality, i guess). they form into complete adventurures for me, much like NPC's in BG/BG2. it doesn't matter at what level i play them.
i actually like playing with low-level chars, they the game tends too "feel" right, as every enemy you meet can cut you with two blows of his sword, your'e saving 70 gp to buy an AC4 armour, and every magical item you find feels like it should, and not gets thrown into backpack: "well, this is inly a +3/+5 vs. mice, so i guess i'm gonna kick butt when i meet mice next time..."
for this reason, i really like what NWN are doing: import your BG2 char, start him from level 1.

Now you ought to know better than that. First, what's said in private conversation is just that--private--and if I name somebody, I'd be divulging something that wasn't put in writing. Suffice to say, when I spoke with 'em as far back as late December, I was told that NWN's Q&A was done, and the game was too all intents and purposes finished.
In any case, Bioware itself made a press release about NWN's status when it was finished. If they're not going to believe the PR of a company, why should they believe somebody like myself, who can only offer hearsay evidence?

I totally understand where you're comming from. I myself transfered some of my IWD PCs to PnP (likewise not stats and levels, but the personalities and background). Of course IWD is a classic Dungeon Crawl so there's not alot of roleplay inherent to it. But that's why folks have imagination.Originally posted by Mirk

What a pity, Mr. Bond. I was hoping you’d be cooperative. But S.P.E.C.T.R.E. has ways of making you talk... (Sorry. ABC is running a Bond film every Sunday and I’m basking in the Connery era of Bondom). I guess I'll have to keep myself occupied with Bond films (until the Roger Moore era. Moonraker *shudder*) and Civ3 until NWN releases (assuming it ever does ).
