Balor in the Duergar encampment

Post by Invincible121 »

Hey all,
i was thinking over SoA and all the enemies that i vanquished, trying to remember what items i got from which enemies( don't ask me why i was doing this.....i don't really know myself :) ), and i thought backto the battle with the Balor in the Duergar encampment, i think it was a Balor, anyway it was a demon and i had trouble vannquishing it.
all my characters except my little cleric/mage were all running around scared and i was firing of any spell i could find in desperation as it came closer and closer.

( pauses for dramatc effect :P )

then i shot a disintergrate at it and *shock horror* it killed the damn thing!
i am now wondering if i missed out on any good items tat may have been dropped by the bugger.

No, I believe all your spoils come from the svirfneblin.

Disintegrate doesn't disintegrate potential loot, altough that would be logical.

Nope, you didnt miss out anything. The only loot you ever get from demons (IIRC) is their hearts.

Not true. In the planar sphere, all three demons drop their hearts and some loot.

In my experience, Disintegrate does not destroy the loot someone was carrying. This is because they don't want you disintegrating quest items. However, when fighting dragons, if you Disintegrate them, you will not be able to get their hide to make dragonscale armour.

IMHO, Disintegrate does destroy some loot. Flesh to Stone does the same thing, just it always destroys all loot.

NOTE: Quest items are indestructuble.

If they had it equiped, then it will be destroyed. So it will make sense that the loot will still be there. I am just thinking that makes the most sense... :p

However, when fighting dragons, if you Disintegrate them, you will

Once I've disintegrated the Shadow Dragon and got the scales.

If i'm not mistaken, if they WEAR or USE the items (robe, ring, sword etc.) it will be desintagrated, if the have the item in their inventory, it won't.
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

The balor doesn't drop anything..... but your lucky the disintegrate got through, he has high magic res and save vs spells. I don't disintegrate dragons though, I use finger of death instead.... heheh, I have a 3-mage party with 2-4 fingers of death on each for dragon-slaying.... you do the math for the odds. You do destroy most or all the loot they have equipped though, and that can be bothersome sometimes.
