Tech Problem
Okay, this hasn't always been like this, so I'm not sure what it could be. Whenever I'm in an area that I have explored somewhat thourally, when I turn on the map screen, my Baulder's Gate II crashes. If someone has experienced this problem before and eventually figured it out, I would appreciate if you would tell me. I haven't changed anything in the config program between when I could use the map and when I couldn't, so I don't think it's that. I have a pretty small harddrive, it could be that I have just gotten too many saved games..
Try defragmenting your hard drive. I have never had the problem you mention but it sure makes the game work better in general. - Curdis !

Welcome to GameBanshee, Casius!
I haven't encountered many crashes in BG2, but I have a few questions:
Does it happen whenever you go to the map screen or only in certain areas?
Have you downloaded and installed the latest patch?
How much RAM do you have?
What size cache are you using?
How close is your computer to the minimum system requirements (PII-233 MHz, 32 MB RAM, 4 MB video card)?
What kind of video card do you have? Do you have the latest drivers for your video card?
Have you checked with Bioware to see if this is a known issue?
Do you have the latest DirectX drivers?
I know that is a lot of questions, but a random crash can be the result of any of them (or something else entirely). You might also wait a while longer and see if someone else here has had a similar experience.

Jesus saves! And takes half damage!
