Holy Symbol of Lathander

Post by moses »

I just finished the unseeing eye quest and
all the chapter 2 quest and was about to embark
on Chapter 4 and go to the island to save Imoen.

At this point in time I did the unseeing eye
quest for the Temple of Lathander. I fooled
around and found the Holy Symbol of Lathander,
which is very powerful for good Clerics/Druids.
The problem is that the Holy Symbol of Lathander
is in a safe inside the Temple of Lathander.
Everytime I steal it an alarm goes off. Is
there any other way for me to get this
(besides cheating) without getting the guys
in the temple of Lathander mad at me?
Or maybe it doesn't matter, since I've done
the unseeing eye quest I never have to go
into the temple again after stealing the Symbol?

Don't worry I've already done the Sculpter's
quest as well. I just don't know what happens
later in the game if I need to go back to that
temple?

so thats whats in the safe, eh???

try this...have thief open up and untrap safe, then send in cleric using sanctuaary to grab it out...

this method will work for almost all the alarm if detected areas in game...but if you got a alarm if item removed, you are sol....
They call me Darth...

Yes, you are right that you automaticaly receive
it at level 25, but obviously I would like to
get it earlier.

I will try the Cleric/Santuary thing.

Why is it if I steal it at night nothing happens?
Does this mean that the alarms are off and
nothing happens? All I know is even if I
protect my thief with improved invisibility
and steal the item the alarm goes off and
everyone turns red. Don't for get that I
did the sculpter's quest with the temple
of Lathander. I will try your suggestion
I was just wondering why it will work and
trying to make sure that if it didn't work
will it mess up my game later due to some
need that I will have to talk to someone in the
temple of Lathander later in the game.

Thanks a million in advance...

But can you get the Symbol if you don't have ToB installed (with SoA you are not supposed to reach 24 lvl legit)?

Yes you can get the symbol. I got it but I had
to steal it from the Temple of Lathander. The
problem is that when I stole it it set off an alarm
and everyone turned red. So I'm sure I'm not
welcome there anymore. The question is whether
I ever have to return there given that I have
finished the sculpter's quest and the unseeing
eye quest...

Actually, there is another quest that will take you inside the Temple of Lathander. After you finish the Sir Sarles the Sculptor quest, Guardian Telwyn will refer you to Dawnbringer Sain at the Temple of Lathander for a mission to help retrieve an artifact that was stolen by the rival Talossans. So I would wait until you do this first before you turn everyone red after stealing the Holy Symbol.
I also recommend trying the 'Sanctuaried Cleric' trick. Worked great in the Golem room in the De'Arnise Keep!

Thanks a million for your response. I already
did the "dawn ring" quest so that is not the
problem. So the Santuary Cleric works?
What exactly does it let me do?

It will let me open things without sounding
an alarm? That would be great I'll try it...

@ Elven King,

nice trick with the sanctuary in de'arnise keep. i never thought of that but that's because I like to whack everything in the game.
Crush enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of the women.

I usually just go melee on everything also. However, I discovered the sanctuary trick during a game a while back. I was running a party with mostly low HP's and bad melee (Aerie, Jan, Nalia, PC Jester), Minsc and Anomen were injured and low on potions. But I really wanted the Flail Head and Elven Court Bow, so I started going through what few spells were left. That's when I discovered that Aerie under the influence of a Sanctuary spell could do what my tanks could not - nab the loot without raising the alarm.
Now that I've played the game quite a bit I just walk in and waste each Golem separately before taking any of the gear.

Sanctuary allows you to go undetected until you activate an offensive function. After sanctuary you can cast things like heal, bless, improved invisiblity with getting hit, unless it is area-effect spell like fireball/cloudkill.

Some people use cheesy tactics like blade barrier/sanctuary to take out innecessary fight. Because the barrier is not counted as offensive, you can just walk up to a crowd of baddies and mow them down with it. :)

Samcu,

So you say I can use blade barrier with sanctuary
and kill things and not be in danger of being
counter attached?

Would this work with the DemiLich?
