Wah...stupid deva!

As you might have guessed from the subject, i am having a hell of a time beating Trias. Can anyone suggest some strategies? He casts a spell, greater mantle or something, and it makes him practically invicible.

IIRC, Guardian Mantle doesn't effect spells, so your spell casters can continue to fling magic missile, etc. at him. The Mantle has a chance of being broken through, so keep your fighters on him. If you have Morte and you have upgraded his Litany of Curses ability, have him use that on Trias until it takes effect - it totally disables his spell-casting. Once you've reduced Trias's HP down to a certain point, Trias will give a final speech - if Morte's Litany is still active, you'll have to wait for it to wear off first.

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Guardian mantle is a pain in the rump for fighters to deal with, but if you're a mage it shouldn't hinder you too much. Just acid storm, lightning storm, and work your way down until all your spells are gone, while your fighters try to, and possibly succeed at, breaking his mantle. Trying to beat him as a fighter can be a real bugger though, I usually have Dak'kon use magic missiles to disrupt all of his spells when he begins them, and swarm curse to disrupt his spells and free Dak'kon to help with the attack whenever the mantle breaks.
