I don't know. Perhaps they indicate how evil it is.

While we are on the subject, have any of you seen the episode "Behind the laughter"- it was so funny- its a fake behind the scenes of the simpsons. It was one of the best episodes I've ever seen.(and thats saying something!)

Yeah that was a good one.
IIRC it was the season finale 2 or 3 years ago.

One of my fav Simpson episodes was the classic one in which Bart got the whole school to beat up Nelson with waterbaloons.
It wasn't that funny, just a classic.
I also like the ones that deal with Shelbyville.

"Bart the general"- one of the first ones
Bart:"did you lose your hand at war?"
Herman:" No. Lets just say, when teacher tells you to keep your hands in the bus- do it" :D

"The lemon of troy"- it was a good one.
Bart:"Eat my shorts!"
Bart and Homer:"Eat my shorts!"
Flanders:"Yes, eat all our shirts!"

(this is all from memory!)

@all you who commented about the Simpsons: I rarely got around to watching Simpsons, usually because of other shows. The few times I did see it, it usually made me sick. Once or twice I saw an episode I actually liked. Then I saw the Holloween special a few years back. I watched the whole thing. I remember a demon on the school bus. Only Bart could see it. It beheaded Flanders, I think. I had trouble sleeping that night because it gave me nightmares. Jaws, the Jason movies, etc., never gave me nightmares, but that one ep of Simpsons did. I haven't watched Simpsons at all since that episode. I've tried, but each time I tried, it brought flashbacks to the nightmares. :(

Of course, now, I hardly watch any TV at all. I average about 3 hours of TV a week. Reminds me of a quote from Sliders.

"That's the problem with you kids today. You read too damn much and don't watch enough TV."~Bartender

I don't watch Simpsons either--they offened me at one time indirectly, and besides I just don't generally watch 'worldly' shows. I'm a hermit, but hey, I'm much more innocent :D

But oh how many hours I spent watching this during my elementary school days.... I mean the scary one for me was when the teachers went cannibalistic and put them all in a 'detention' and then ate them... I swear they are going to do that to Anthony Harrison at my school... But I did not like that blender scene. It still comes to mind. :(

I also did not like the one when they all died and went to hell except Lisa but Homer dragged her down into hell with him... that was the last one I ever watched and it was a few years ago cuz the Game had just ended...

Your talking about the horror episodes, which are usualy pretty bad- but there are only 12 in existanse, so I think not seeing a hillarius show because of that is stupid.

The Halloween Specials are pretty grossed out. However, I hardly think it can induce terror and nightmares. I think the Simpsons is one of the best shows on Television. Some people say that nothing ever happens in the real world that resembles the Simpsons, well, that's supposed to the point of the entire show. It's a distorted view of middle-class, suburban white America and all the things that are associated with it.
