Who are you?

Post by Onyx »

OK, for all you crazzzzzies out there, yes you are all planning already what party to make for IWD II. And yes you have all read the new kits coming :D And yes we all make our ideal party, but it's always that first character that represents us, yes you the player, the dreamer. So, who are you going to be in IWD II?

totaly with you, man! i always tend to become "attached" to one of the chars, and the rest are like NPC's in BG2. he always gets the best staff, all the best buff spells, and, of corse, the coolest portrait! if someone is more efficient than him, i even tend to get annoyed... and play them in a duel! (than reload, no hard feelings)

so, here's "me" in IWD:

neutral good (wood) elf ranger (stalker in IWD 2), uses bows, longswords at start, and then whatever the game trows at me. acts as a scout and then the first attack (melee or ranged) to start a fight.

oh, sometimes he becomes a fighter-thief, but nothing relly changes much ;)

this is the planned version of this char in IWD2:

str 14 (hope there are str-buffing items)
dex 18 (gotta hit with that bow from the start!)
con 14 (wood elfs don't get -2 here)
int 10 (maybe 8, if they don't penalise proficiencies)
wis 12 (well, he's a ranger!)
cha 8 (what's left)

too bad they don't let stalkers wear elven chain, IMHO the coolest avatar is elf warriror in chainmail

Yep, the same here, tend to become "attached" to one of the chars, and the rest are like NPC's. I also see you've got your stat ready as well as your alignment.
And the same here, if someone is more efficient than the main character, i also tend to get annoyed. Is the character is a fighting type, must always have most kills, 50% :D :D
Stalker, not bad. ;)
I'm still trying to make up my mind, let ya now soon as i decide.

Well, the new kits are interesting. I may change some of my traditional party. I usually play pretty close to the same party, as they are based on my favorite PnP characters, and make a pretty balanced group.

Kylorin- Human Paladin-Cavalier
Vallyn-1/2 Elven Ranger-Giant Killer
Ragnor- Dwarven Fighter/Cleric
Dray-1/2 Elven Swashbuckler
Falko-1/2 Elven Bard
Tolarin-Elven Mage

I may make some changes. I'm very interested in the Arcane Rogue. My bard will most likely pick a kit. The Riddlemaster fits him best roleplaying-wise, but the Blade is hard to ignore. There arent really any good kits for a Dwarven cleric, so I'll just go with fighter/cleric. Although I'm very tempted to replace him with a new character so I can try the Silverstar of Selune, if it includes the controlled lycanthropy. My mage will probably be a sorceror, not completely sure though.

I think I missed the point a little, but i get it now, heheh. My main character is my paladin. But I also identify with my swashbuckling thief. I guess it depends if I'm in a heroic mood or a chaotic mood. But I definitely am most attached to those two. They always get the coolest stuff of course, unless somebody else desperately needs it, lol.

Hmm, I'm not really sure yet, which will be the final party. I know there's gonna be a paladin, possibly a votary or a cavalier. Human or Aasimar...that Aasimar sounds interesting. Then there's gonna be one Svirfnebli, though I'm not sure what he'll be. Probably a fighter. Then one Gold Dwarf, possibly a fighter/cleric or a pure fighter or a pure cleric. One elven or tiefling swashbuckler. Or a bard. Then one drow fighter or a fighter/thief. One mage, possibly some kind of a gnome. I'm not sure about anything, but I think it's gonna be a group consisting exiles and such...eccentric individuals. Of course, this is only an excuse to try out the new gizmos. It's gonna be great.
Centuries ago in England........It was an era of chivalry and magic. The evil Prince John unleashed an iron fist of tyranny upon the people. They called out for a champion.........one man answered that call. His name, was Robin Hood. Fearless in his quest for justice Robin Hood challenged the power of the high warlords. While protecting the helpless and the poor. Willing to face death for what he believed, along with the beautiful, lady warrior, Jaheira, the mighty Minsc, and the wise Keldorn. Robin Hood forged a legend that lives on today in............

my first party will be:

male LG Aasimar Votary or Cavalir
male NG Gold Dwarf Fighter (maybe some kit, but recent Fighter kits are not so good for Dwarf)
me as CG Wood Elf Giant Killer
female NG Half-Elf propably Aes Dana or another Druid
male CG or NG Rock Gnome Illusionist/Thief (i want Deep Gnome, but 60% xp penalty is too high price for multi-class :( )
female CG Moon Elf Mage

second party:

Drizzt, Bruenor, Wulfgar, Regis and CG Silverstar of Selune and some CG Mage :)

third party i just don't know :) i think i am mad! :D

Hm, either a cavalier or an assassin.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

sojourner - that's quite the opposite stile of play...

i'm actually thinking of running a little test on a group of RPGers (i work in a psychology department in a university) - too see if certain personality types tend to play certain classes. i bet you would screw up my reaserch with your paladin-assassin choice...

specialist mage (transmuter or abjurer), probably an elf
10 str (why more?)
20 dex (ac)
16 con (highest bonus for non-fighters)
18 int (spells and skills/lore)
10 (at least) wis (lore and saves)
8 cha (or less, depending on how many points i can spend on wis)

Let's just hope there are some really juicy spells in IWD2 ;)

I would probably stick with generally speaking the party I already had in BGII, mainly because even though some of the characters are interesting, they have those defficiencies I simply do not like.

Half-Elf fighter/mage(my character)
Gold Dwarf fighter(with heavy specialization in axes and clubs)
Elf mage
Drow elf mage
human Ranger
elf cleric
I care not for endings or beginnings, but for the eternal and infinite spaces of the universe, and for the endless exploration of eternity, and mysteries which I will find plumbing the infinite depths.

"Do not turn inward to find peace and wisdom, turn outward instead to find liberation from the narrow boundaries of self", quote from Gary Paul Nabhan, paraphrased of course

"When a distinguished but elderly scientist states that something is possible, he is almost certainly right. When he states that something is impossible, he is very probably wrong" quote from Arthur C. Clarke, thought it was interesting.

Tips on living longer: eat right, exercise, and yes castrate yourself, eunuchs live longer then normal people.

I have to think on this, as all the new kits are nice. Once I decide i'll post and tell you. I like all the druid kits a lot though.
