Multiplayer?

Post by Kew »

What is multiplayer on BG2 like? Is it just coop? How many people are allowed in the game? I'm thinking of just sticking to single player but I dont want to miss a worthy feature of a great game.

You can have up to 5 IIRC other players. It is 'co-op' and the quality of the gaming experience is really up to the quality of the players involved. - Curdis !

I have a problem with multiplayer (and to set things straight my knowledge of computers and the internet is at entry level), whatever of the connection types I choose I either need to know the phone number of another server or I just can`t find any games...this means I can`t find any games to join and is rather disappointing as I`d really like to play online

I expect people to flame me for my ignorance, but I don`t care... I would be grateful for any advice

Don't worry about flames. If you choose TCP/IP (for an internet connection) you already need to be connected to a POP server to get the required access. It may be better to go via an internet multiplayer server to get started. You need to have other players and if you can find one(or more) they should be able to assist you to connect to them or vice versa. - Curdis !

@Dark Rook - the way to go is by internet access - http://www.Gamespy.com/download register here and download the software (it has been recently updated). Gamespy is shareware - ignore any registration fee (this is for additional extras - such as avoiding pop up ads) Good luck! :)

You can play a multiplayer game solo by chosing a serial connection instead of TCP/IP. This will allow you to create your own party from characters you've saved.

You can also do this at the Gamespy site by creating a room password on your game, and selecting the do not listen to join game requests option :)

@Yshania: true, I just wanted to list this option for players who don't have an internet connection and still want to play with a custom party. I think you still need a network card, though.
