Hey all
New player here and con not seem to do anything to the Shadows. They just come in kick my ass and end the game.

Shadows - Help ??
Shadows are a real pain in the ass at the begining. You need to hit them with magical weapon and even then you may not infict any damage. Just keep a lot of wand and potions of restoration with you (you find several at the dungeons) and use them with you fight them. Use magic missiles and melf's acid arrows and don't let all your party members near cause the drain you strength and it makes it even harder to hit.
Turn undead won't work against them cause clerics & paladins of your party are not that powerfull yet.

Try turning them, but before fighting Shadow and Wraiths cast spells like Bless/Prayer/Resistance to boost your saving throws. The Warhammer of Death works good against 'em. And healing undead does damage, so you could try that.

have your palidin and or cleric stand back and heal the rest of the party while fighting with other members, also a little gliitch i noticed, just as skipping a turn on your players with the space bar, it works with some advisarys as well, funny how it all works out, lol.

My experience with shadows and Wraiths and such is that you take a good look at their movement. They are constantly moving just a litle bit and there is a position in that movement that if you hit them at that point, you can be reasonabily sure you get a hit.
With wraiths for instance, I get most of my swings (80-90%) as a hit if I hit it when his hair is moving up. This creature seams to be floating and his hair makes an up and down movement. I was frustrated too in the beginning because I could'nt seem to hit them, but after a little studie I came up with this strtegy and it really works for me.

Always keep a cleric with very high charisma in hand! Charisma affects the "turn undead" skill. Have one of the function keys of the cleric assigned to the turn undead, so that you'll access it easily in combat. If the cleric's charisma is low, it will only entangle wraiths and shadows, but if it's high enough it will kill them, and it works at multiple foes with one use. If you stop them, use a sorcerer to hit them with magic missiles or your warriors/barbarians/paladins hit them with magical weapons.Originally posted by habsmanbc
