magic items - re-identify?

Post by Denarth »

first timer to bg1 (to any rpg) and enjoying v. much. just exited Nashkel mines.

When a magic item is unidentified and you still are able to wield it (or wear it), ie. Long Sword +3 in the case of a weapon, do you still gain the bonuses or only as long as it is identified?

I also noticed that once identified items periodically will turn back to 'unidentified', is this normal?

a. You can use unidentified Items that their bonus is added autimaticaly.so you can use any magical weapon to its full effect, but you can't use an items special features- like wands, tomes, scrolls you can't use unidentified.

There is no reason why something should go back to unidentified after being identified. maybe its a bug.

You don't need to identify an item to gain its benefits - you just need to equip it, ie., put it in your quick item slot, quick weapon slot, or put it on your avatar. One exception to this are wands, which must be identified before you can use them.

I've never experienced a situation where identified items periodically became unidentified - are you sure you identified them? The ground icon often differs from the inventory icon.

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Nothing wrong with equipping the girdle of Gender Change on certain party members...like Montaron, for example. :D :D :D

Using the girdle on Garrick would be a waste though... Nobody'd know the difference

Haha!, i equipped it on Shar-teel, with her constant whining about male leadership and male imbecility blah blah, now she's one herself ;)

Anyway, i've never encountered any items which changed back to 'unidentified' after I identified them.

LOL! :D I identified it then equipped it! :D well it is a good sword to have early in the game - and the added excitement and laughs it gives you from having to run from your own party member for a while after the battle was over was worth it! :D Imagine Khalid saying 'my heart isn't in this' as he is deliberately trying to cut my PC into little pieces :D ;)
