Kidnappers (Spoiler maybe)

Post by josh »

May have spoiler information.

There's a mission where you rescue a kidnapped woman from some guys, one of them wearing a red robe, in the Bridge District. I've killed the guy in the robe, chased away the others, rescued the woman and gotten the ransom letter. The letter says the ransom money will be paid outside the Copper Cornet after sundown. I've waited outside the inn but nothing has happened. What am I doing wrong? Its now been a couple of weeks since I got the ransom letter so is it too late to complete the mission?

You only did something wrong if you're evil. (OR if you're carrying those golden pantaloons from BG1).

Freeing the woman is the good way to finish the quest.

The ransom letter is for evil folks who choose NOT to free her. ;)
But long ago he went away
And where he dwelleth, none can say.
For into darkness fell his star
In Mordor, where the shadows are.

And I was looking forward to seeing what I might have missed, too! :p

Dan Simpson's FAQ can be found here.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

There's no need to lose reputation....
Just be offended by the woman manners, go away with the
paper, meet the man and PICKPOCKET him!!!!!
Then, BEFORE TALKING TO HIM, repent for your actions and
go to free the woman!
Let's say you've scared her!!!
Here are your pantaloons!
:D :D

(I don't use this "trick", but, anyway...)
