How good is a Paladin/Cleric multiclass???

How useful is the paladin/cleric combo? I was kinda wondering because i think the paladin by itself is a waste of a party member. Just give me a little feedback and ill be happy. Thanks!!!

I feel the same way as a straight Paladin, but when you multi with a Cleric you you don't lose much Turning ability, while you gain access to all weapons, a larger hit die, and some Fighter feats. It all depends on the make-up of your party though. If you've got a small party and you're leveling up rather quickly I'd definately suggest getting the Paladin to lvl 3 and then going almost lvl for lvl between the two classes, but with a large party max the Cleric first and then add Paladin. And Paladins also get their Cha bonus added to all saves. Try it out, but I have a Cleric/Paladin in my 3 man party and it's working out pretty good. Although it would probably work better ina 2 man party because I'm lacking some spells I'd have with a straight Cleric.

Well since my favourite character is a Paladin i want to support my view that a paladin is a very powerfull class, much more powerfull in 3E.
I had a paladin/cleric in my party level 15/5 at the end. I manage to raise his charisma up to 22 having a +6 to all of his saving through, thats better from even the most powerfull ring(like ring of claming)
So having a reflex saving through check up to 22 , fortitute 31 and wll 29 he was totally invunerable to magic that let you saving through, plus from the catacombs he could turn anything except mohrgs and revenants that were immune to this. Reaching the castle not only could turn anything but destroy it as well even the enthralled drows. Have him hold the Dreadsweord Deamoniac and the Daemonclaws of Gr'Zak and anyhting that cannot be turned was destroyed in a few seconds :) .

I would go for solo with this one but i want to try the monk now. Maybe next time :) .

Well, I have a paladin/sorcerer, and I can only say that she rocks! I don't know why some people don't like paladins, IMHO they are one of the best to go with. Having nice fighting talent, some spells, turning, healing, and good protections against magic, combined (in my case) with the magical power of the sorcerer class, couldn't be better. She has the arcane armor, the demon claws, and the dreadsword. Her stats are very good, ac as well, and basically just chews up and spits out anything that is stupid enough to get in her way.

The only way to find out if a class is really good or not (and that applies to multi, as well), is to play them, and to get them to higher levels. It is only then that the real picture starts to form.

Class

I am in the process of using a sorcerer but he isn't up to snuff...I can't seem to get him to be of much use yet...maybe I just need to level him up more or something...one other thing is my paladin that I have made is a slammer...he is probably the best character I have made and played in quite some time...he is just the right combo....don't know if I am going to keep him though just for lack of anything else...???? Any thoughts out there are welcome :cool:

In my opinion the Paladin is the best class in the game if you're gonna go solo. And the Sorceror is a waste in a solo game.

I will agree will Skuld on this :D Paladin class is just the best especially if your planning to go solo.

Well, a sorcerer alone is only powerful at high levels...though the spells in the game (with the exception of confusion and haste) are relatively lame. However, if you multi your sorcerer to any fighting class, then the true power of these combinations are unleashed.

Take my paladin/sorcerer. She now has the drowspidersilk armor (only 5% chance spell failure, but a whopping ac bonus!) and the dreadsword (heck, I've got 4 of the things, now. Unbelieveable what one finds in the multi game). Combined with the demon-claws, she is a really powerful fighter, can turn most undead (even liches), has very good saving throws, very good movement, and can cast all spells (16th sorcerer). So, combining haste to her fighting skills really makes her something. Of course, she has a lot of 'prep' spells, and of course confusion (the best spell IMHO), which makes the game fairly easy.

So I guess it all depends on how one plays the game. Personally, I like the paladin class. The ranger class is also not bad, when combined with (as in my case) the monk class. He's death with a bow (concentrate on dex, not strength), and wisdom is important for both classes.
