The End !!!

Post by bob333 »

After many hours and long sleepless nights I've finally finished the game. This is the first rpg that I've ever played and it's without doubt the best game I've encountered.
I dont think I'll be getting the add-on Tob since the thought of fighting powerful level 40 (?) wizards on a regular basis sounds more like a pain than fun. So I think I'll wait for Neverwinter Nights. That looks really cool !

I personally found that TOB was worth getting. The abilities are cool, the items are superpowered (to a retarded point, actually) and I liked the ending of the saga as well
"Come on, let's go whack something eeeeeeeeevil!"

"Faster than Chiktikka FastPaws!"

depending on your playing style TOB can be good or bad, i think we all noticed that TOB was just a whole lot of fighting. Not nearly as many puzzles as SoA. THere were some way intense battles, so if you like that then go for ToB.

Throne of Bhaal is the culmination of the Bhaalspawn story. I'm a huge fan of BG ever since I bought the original game, so I decided to get the whole 'pack': BG I, Tales of the Sword Coast, BG II and Throne of Bhaal. I find that throughout the entire series you can really explore your character in-depth. But I can also see why you'd rather buy Neverwinter Nights if you haven't got the other parts to the Bhaalspawn story.

Hi Bob,

Like what Eerhardt and General said, it's worth getting the whole series just to see how everything unfolds, if not for anything else.

A real epic in every sense of the word, and you get to export your character over to Neverwinter Nights.

Neat, isn't it?

NWN will take some patience, long enough for you to finish ToB.
But don't overlook on the importing to NWN. In NWN you start over at level 1.
And there are no kits, so if you are a wizzard slayer for instance you will just be a fighter level 1 without any possessions.
Basicly you just import your name, even your stats will be altered.

ToB is the finale, IMHO its worth getting.

Plus, the battles are intense. (You will litterally fight armies!)

Definitely get TOB. It is the final instalment for the Baldur's Gate series, don't you want to fulfil your destiny, for better or worse? Its like watching Empire Strikes Back and not Return of the Jedi.

Gotta agree with that. ToB is the end of the saga, why should you not finish the story.
Personally I was kind of sorry I finished it, playing BG a second time around is just not as great as finishing it the first time. I was actually sorry it was over with... :(

After reading all the replies and checking a few reviews of the game itself , I'm going to give it a go ! Since Neverwinter Nights will be coming near the end of this year I will have a lot of time to spare !

Any advice on which characters to take with me in Tob?

Thanks.

I don't know which characters you played with in Shadows of Amn, but by the end of Shadows of Amn they had certainly grown on me and I couldn't kick any of them out of my party. My party consisted of: me (fighter), Imoen (you've known her all your life and spent your youth with her at Candlekeep, where she gave Gorion and Winthrop a hard time ;) ), Minsc, Jaheira, Aerie and Haer'dalis. I would certainly recommend taking Aerie (Cleric/Mage-combo) and Haer'dalis (check out his Enhanced Bard Song!: it replaces the existing one and confers damage/save/AC bonuses).

Latest news has it that you won't be able to import into NWN. Then again, it wasn't much of an idea anyway, since you can easily rebuild your character from scatch.

I've heard that you can subspecialise further in NWM within your chosen character . For example if you are a mage you could use acquired extra abilities to either wear armour or to maximise spell damage and increase spellcasting speed ...its up to you !

This game will be awesome !!!

The only thing you can import into NWN is the char name. Thats it. Stats, levels, and abilities are gone. It's going to be easier just to start a new char in NWN and just name him what you did in BG2 (but why do that anyway?).
