stuff missing from TDD (spoilers)

Post by HighLordDave »

I am in the middle of TDD and have noticed that there are a couple of quests/characters missing from the regular Shadows of Amn game. I have the latest patch (v1.0.2D). These include:

The paladin quest in the Graveyard District where you connect the orphan with the paladin.

Garrick and the gnome pining for the love interest in the Temple District.

Has anyone else noticed other elements missing from TDD?

I just did the paladin and orphaned child quest in the graveyard district. Haven't noticed anything yet, it has been real smooth. I haven't been down to the order of the radiant heart yet though.

I will go back to the Graveyard District and try to find the paladin. I also noticed something odd in the Docks; Delon came to visit me there and tell me about the problems in the Umar Hills. Usually he shows up in Waukeen's Promenade. Is he timed? I skipped the circus tent/Aerie quest at the beginning and opened with some other quests, so that would have thrown my normal timing off, but everything I read said he shows up in the Promenade.

Actually, I've noticed nothing wrong, other than the fact I can't find Kiran... grrrr.
Other than Haer Dalis has the wrong portrait, which might have something to do with my protaganist using it. Hehe, I stole his face!
The waves came crashing in like blindness.
So I just stood and listened.

No sooner had I posted that I couldn't find Kamir (the paladin in the Graveyard) than I went to there and he appeared. Maybe he's timed in to the game clock somehow . . .

@Obsidian:
Do you mean Kivan (not Kiran), the elf archer? He's in the Umar Hills, north of the village, but south of Malduf. Map coordinates are AR1100, X=4177, Y=1243 (Whenever I give out map coordinates, I feel like I should duck from the incoming airstrike). I haven't had him join the party yet (I'm in the middle of the planar sphere quest) because I don't want to have to boot someone else out prematurely and a lot of the TDD characters won't rejoin the party once you kick them out. If you get Kivan, and do his quest, let me know if he's a cool character to have or if he blows (like Xzar, Shar-Teel and Yeslick).

I have not yet installed TDD (waiting for the ToB compataible patch), but in my BG 1 games I have almost always used Kivan. He has a high strength (18/56 in BG 1), and he really rocks with a bow.

HLD,

I'd have to side with DW regarding Kivan. He rocked in BG1 so I imagine he'd be no different in BG2. I'd rather have Valygar though for the backstab. Kivan just doesn't have that but I guess Kivan can wear plate armor although I never choose such armor for a ranger because Hiding in shadows is just too valuable. I guess he could carry two suits of armor (one for hiding and one for brutal melee) but I'm too lazy to switch back and forth. Plus, for some reason, the game won't let you switch armor in the middle of combat. I find this lame as I have no problem changing armor when I battle drow in my own neighborhood. As evil as they are, I find them to be quite chivalrous and understanding in such matters. Alas, I digress.

So you haven't played Kivan in TDD either? I've got Valygar in my party right now and I've finished both Adario's and Avaunis's sidequests, so I am considering kicking Avaunis out for Kivan, although his immunity to psionic attacks may be useful in the Underdark. My other option is to give Minsc or Viconia the boot, but I like the big lug too much and I've never taken Viconia into the Underdark before and I hear that she's useful in the drow city (plus I don't have another cleric).
