He's basicly there to stop you from screwing up the plot. See the thread Tamerlane posted.

It is possible to CLUAconsole in Arkanis Gath's sword. IIRC the item name is "killsw01". It's also usable by all characters.

Yes, I know Arkanis, he also appears in the first of Bodhi´s quests (the one at the Docks where you intercept the Shadow Thieves´cargo), but why should he appear when you attack Anishai (sp?). Is she of any importance to the plot ?

i think basically he stops you from taking pleasure in killing his/your allies? who knows....basically he is there to stop the player from going too far form the plot...

but then i´ve got another question... why is anishai so important for the plot? i mean... i have no memory of her with my other parties being that superimportant person u need to complete the plot.
maybe shes mae´vars lover that secretly loves arkanis and their real lovers and then edwin joins in and transmutes everyone to chickens which the hendricks pumps jewels up their arse?

I think that Arkanis appears whenever you try to create a hostile Shadow Thief without being provoked (ie, killing a ST if they do not attack first). As said, he exists to keep you from screwing up the plot. No matter who the Shadow Thief is, Arkanis will appear, and quickly kill you.

And yes, the thieves with Mae'var are considered ST, so that will call Arkanis if you fail a pick against them.

You cannot make the shadow thieves hostile towards you before accepting either Gaylin Bayle's offer or Bohdi's offer. If you attack *any* thieves (Mae'var, Renal, any ordinary thief), Gath shows up to stop you from screwing up the main game plot.

Well, even if you do manage to survive his attack on you, both he and Aran Linvail have a girdle that stops them from going below 1 hp.
You can kill them by
a) casting prot from magical wpns
b) getting him to attack you
c) shapeshift into a mindflayer, stun him, and eat his brain!!!

Or, use any one of the wpns that drains stat points (dex, wisdom, int) because whenever your points hit 0, you die regardless of hps.

So I just stood and listened.
