I am a new BG2 player, but old BG1 player. I have read some of the websites and looked into the cheat codes. I went to the root directory and inserted the Debug Mode=1 into the daldur.ini file. The problem is some cheats work and other do not. For example:
I am able to heal characters, by using the CTRL+R keys and I can alter character stats to all 18's, but that is it. I am unable to use any of the other cheats, such as the Add Gold and the Create Item cheats.
One point of interest, I have not downloaded the patch. Do I need to do this to fully utilize the cheats or to have the game run perfectly. The game runs just fine without the patch (I am only on chapter 1).
I would appreciate any advice about playing the Monk character. The character seems intriguing. I have chosen to play a Paladin Slayer as my first character. Thanks in advance.

The only thing I can remember is that some one posted once they were pressing Ctrl and Tab... I tried it but it wouldn't work in my game. Debug Mode=1 you do have a space between Debug and Mode.
CLUAConsole:CreateItem("****") should work.
Press Enter.
Maybe some of this will help.

I am playing a Monk currently and think he makes an excellent leader. He's a very straightforward chr. ie. no spells, few spec.ablts, very limited armour and little use of weapons....But dead cool.
being able to disapear and move twice as fast as anybody else, coupled with his excellent magic reistance(later) and his dodge missiles makes for a great scout/leader.
But remember Grasshopper, only when you walk on the ricepaper without tearing can you be a true Shaolin Monk
