Methinks I do detect in Sojourner's post a certain tongue planting in a certain cheek. ;)
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Oh I get it, Yemeth was an old guy who killed others, took (and evitably tormented) their souls, and kept living by it. After he was killed, his name became an adjective, just like all the people Dak'kon is always reffering to. I am pretty sure someone does call you Yemeth, and when you ask them what it means, they say something like he who torments... or something along those lines, only in a more crytic-sounding way of course.

Tormenting, isn't this?

I have been reading this thread from first post to last, and although it has gone slightly off-topic, the conclusion with regard to the NO's name is, we will never know for sure, will we?

Isn't it an oxymoron for "Baldurs Gate Fan" to be posting the P:T forum? :D ;)

IMO his name is irrelevant, but if it was anything it would be Adahn, whenever questioned he calls himself Adahn, yet later in the game he convinces the Skeleton without a name that she can just make one up, from my POV this suggests that he finds the knowledge that his name does not matter and it is not his identity, that nothing is in his name and it is merely transient, and since he is immortal a name is not important.....opinions?
I'd have to get drunk every night and talk about virility...And those Pink elephants I'd see.

@Mr Sleep

Touche ;)

@JosephM

I guess what Mr Sleep meant by the last sentence is that it all boils down to "What's in a name?" I will leave that question to those with a more philosophical bent.

Adahn is a name that comes up when NO talks to the guy who carves the names of the dead on the pillar outside the Dustman bar. Adahn is another person and NO gets the option in the dialog to use it. If you keep using Adahn's name throughout the game, eventually the real Adahn will show up. Since using the name is considered lying and dishonest, it hurts NO's alignment also.
I didn't know that, but i think my nonesense still stands :D

@BGfan :) Yes that is basically what i am saying, why i had to pad it out with all those ramblings i don't know ;)
