Going from HoW to TotL

Post by timontoo »

I recently finished HoW and finally successfully downloaded TotL(which was as accomplished a feat as the fight with Icasaracht!) After the battle I was whisked back to Kuldahar. Now I would like to continue with TotL without having to start a new game. Is this possible from Kuldahar? The only saved games that I kept were just prior to entering the final battle with Icasaracht and the arrival at Lonelywood from the very beginning of HoW. Any help would be appreciated.

You can think of TotL as an expansion added onto HoW. It picks up in LonelyWood, so you can start a new game playing the expansion only, or you can load the aforementioned savegame from your party's arrival in Lonelywood.

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

i

i had a similar problem. all my saved games were either in lonelywood near the beginning or in and around the island where you confront icasaracht. unfortunately, once your on the island, the barbarians won't take you back to lonelywood until icasaracht is killed...but once you kill icasaracht, the game ends (i hate this type og game design)...

i didn't want to play HoW again, so i downloaded a character-editing program called dalemaster(i think). i used it to copy my characters exactly (xp, hp, items, etc) as they were right before the final battle. I then save the copied characters to a saved file from the beginning of toL ...it's time-consuming and irritating (since you do have to replay a few of the events from how just to get people to sell you things...) but...

I installed TOTL after HoW. Upon killing Icasaracht the game did not end - I was able to pick up all the goodies and make my way back to Lonelywood to pick up on TOTL.

You may just have to re-fight the dragon... :D

hmmn...

hey gruntboy,

it didn't end after icasaracht? i fought her twice, and collected the items twice...each time, as i left her lair via the door back to the temple, it said something like "clearing game data" and then brought up the final animation, followed by credits (which eventually ended in the "load game/create new game" screen, i think)...

was there some option to continue after the credits? or an exit that didn't lead to the credits...

it'd be nice to know, even though i don't plan on going back to HoW for awhile (unless i decide to be adventurous, and carve my way back through iwd dale with a party of 6 halfling bards or some such...)

Exit didn't lead to credits. I could navigate using the map to return to lonelywood.
