If you've got the money, I hear Dark Age of Camelot is an excellent game.
For the best RPG's though, scan down the forums available on the GB site. They are pretty much the best ones, as far as I know.
Avernum is good too!
IWD 2 is coming out in a bit, and there are the expansions/mods available for BG

The waves came crashing in like blindness.
So I just stood and listened.

PS:T was issued by Interplay, and uses the same Infinity engine as Bioware's products; it also had Bioware assisatance. But the game was developed in-house at Interplay. Bioware's team admitted being heavily influenced by PS:T in the development of BG2, which is one indcation of what you can expect. It has an original plot (for a change, in a CRPG), with fascinating party members, and a great deal of non-linearity. The game also changes considerably depending upon how you configure your character: much more violence if you go for a fighter with high strength and dexterity, a concentration on puzzles for those who go the intelligence and wisdom route.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.
I'm bored too. I finished bg2 and I thought I'd try playing again using a different character . Couldn't do it. Going through the whole game again knowing whats going to happen plus starting at such a low level just seems to be a waste of time .
No plans to get ToB yet. Think I'll give computer games a rest and buy myself a good book to read !

Choose a very different class, why not an evil Assassin for instance? Bring along other NPCs, try a different romance, use new spells and weapons, find out new stategies...Originally posted by frogus
I finished BG2 with an Invoker a while ago....any recomendations on how I should play through the second time?
Being evil?
Being a fighter?
Being a monk?
Soloing?
Having an all PC party?
