cheap way to kill any wizard, including irenicus
the answer is simple..the protection from magic scroll..when you use it you get a selection marker.....so you can put it on enemies as well.
Why you ask?...besides giving them spell protection, it also negates their casting ability..the only thing to worry about is contingencies.....good bio only included 2 in the entire game, they are far too powerfull

It is indeed a very good strategy that I have used many times in the past, although it does smell faintly of cheddar.....

You can have unlimited PFM scrolls! With a helm wich allows you to cast simulacrum.
1. Equip a PFM scroll in your quick items solt.
2. Cast Simulacrum with Vhailors Helm
3. Let your DUP cast PFM on you from her quick item slot And you will still have your scoll and can do this every eight hours

Thanks. Another bug to fix...there's no way this was anything but an oversight (you're not supposed to be able to target anything with those scrolls involuntarily...) I'll have to confirm this one though just to make sure, but it seems pretty definite (like killing just about anything instantly by targeting them with the Cursed Scroll of Ailment.)
I had heard about the Simulacrum exploit before, but I would have to patch the EXE to fix that, and I'm shying away from that, at least until the TOB (and patch) is out!

Since every character with high enough intelligence (which can be raised with a potion) can read this scroll, it should not be a problem - just give it to the appropriate party member.Originally posted by fable:
why shouldn't you be able to cast it on one of your own party?

One very valid use of the scroll should be to free party members who are held/etc. If they're held, they can use the scroll. So, you should be able to cast it on them.
Personally though, I don't think hitting an enemy spellcaster with it is a bug...but it wouldn't be the only place Kevin and I disagree on bugs vs features.
I think they had an idea how powerful it is. If not for Simulacrum it wouldn't be that bad since there are only 2. In BG1 + TOSC there are at least 5.

I don't think it's a bug at all. Simulacrum has some restrictions but allows use of items in quick slots. If that item is a scroll & someone comes up with an unusual way of using it that has beneficial effects, then good for them, doesn't make it a bug in the game.Originally posted by Bruce Lee:
If it is a bug it is the simulacrum bug. You shouldn't be able to keep scrolls that you use with your simulacrum, maybe not use scrolls at all. However I like this particular bug
In a pnp game, if a player did that & the DM disallowed because it made the fight "too easy" & not because it broke any rules then I don't think the players would stand for it.
Neither should we expect it to be like that in a crpg.

@Lucian: hmm... Interesting idea (new for me). Has anybody tested whether it works with Kangaxx? If so, will the scroll effect survive the change from the lich to the demilich? Will it block the Imprisonments? And dragons? Especially with the black one (use Time Stop and improve the Black Dragon by the scroll before the dragon becomes hostile and starts casting spells)? What about the wing buffet, is it a spell or a weapon?
