Warcraft III:World of Warcraft
hey guys, i was just on blizzard.com and i checked out an upcoming MMORPG called World of Warcraft. I think it functions exactly the same as DAoC but you roleplay the heroes in the warcraft series. Since this site is a kick ass mega site for Roleplaying games, maybe Buck could put in news and maybe a forum on this new game...of course NWN beats it by far but it looks cool. check it out at http://www.worldofwarcraft.com

war craft 3 was orignally planned to be an rps (roleplaying-strategy) but Blizzard didnt think it would work so they divided it into 2 seperate games, there fore i think delayed the release of the game...

I've had my eye on World of Warcraft ever since its announcement, and have even made a template site for it on GameBanshee. However, I'm not yet sure if I'm going add it to our network. It really depends on when it comes out and whether or not I will have time to play it enough to post plenty of content. Time will tell.
HE DOES EXIST!!!!*does a jig* Warhammer online? Can u explain more? all i've played was ADnD although i have heard of warhammer....heh yeah 2002 is gonna be an awesome year!!!!!

Nature’s first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold.
Her early leaf’s a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.

It looks like it's Fantasy Roleplay Frogus. Does anyone here remember that? It was the first type of RPG I ever played (now that brings back some memories).

OK Warcraft 3 lovers, here's some news I'can ripped from Blizzard official site. I hope these can make us more patient on the waiting
Here's the list of General FAQs & Some of Beta testers update : (I've edited them to limit the message length)
Beta Testers should expect to see the new race in the next patch. The Pandaren Empire will be fully implemented in the game and balanced with the other races without any delays to the final release date. Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos is still on schedule for a first half of 2002 release.

You can get all details on beta testing hereHow will the WarCraft Adventures storyline tie into WarCraft III?
One of the main characters in the WarCraft III storyline is Thrall, the Orc Chieftan from the WarCraft Adventures story. WarCraft III begins a few years after the events of the now-defunct adventure game.
Will WarCraft III include any WarCraft Adventures material?
The WarCraft III campaign will include characters and storyline from WarCraft Adventures. We will not use any of Warcraft Adventures artwork, sound or cinematic animations.
Is there a tech-tree in WarCraft III?
Players will be able to upgrade the structures in their town to produce more advanced units. There may also be special research items that will allow the recruitment of new troop types or the learning of new skills or spells.
How many CDs will WarCraft III require?
We do not know the number of CDs required yet, but as details become available we will post them on the WarCraft III section of our website at http://www.blizzard.com.
Will there be a collector's edition?
The acceptance and interest in the Diablo II Collector's Edition was fantastic and we will definitely consider creating something special for WarCraft fans.
Do you plan to have a simultaneous Macintosh / PC release?
The launch of Diablo II on the Macintosh was our fastest to date and it is the goal of our Macintosh teams to keep the PC and Mac releases as close as possible.
Are there any plans to port a Linux version?
We are currently developing WarCraft III for the PC and Macintosh and have no plans for versions on other operating systems.
Will there be spawning?
While we certainly want to support people being able to try the game out before they buy it, it is too early to nail down whether we will use traditional spawning to accomplish this or not.
Can some multiplayer game outcomes be attributed to luck based on what items you happen to come across, neutral buildings, and Creep locations?
This "could" be the case, but few games are determined by randomness. Most good players can overcome random RPG elements.
Are quests still in the game, and if so, how will they work?
In single player, you must complete quests to advance to the next mission. Some quests will be optional and may be ignored by the player (although they would have received a reward for completing them).
Will there be a map of the week program?
We have not decided yet, but we were very pleased with the success of the program for StarCraft and would like to continue to offer Warcraft III content after the game releases.
Will there be an Expansion pack for Warcraft III?
It's much too early to comment on that.

Beta Update
I just wanted to give everyone an update on the beta and where we are at with WarCraft 3. We are nearing the final phase of the beta currently. Internally we are debugging the code, optimizing the game engine and making performance improvements, while also working on the single player campaigns. Within the beta, we are now going to focus on the balance of the game more then ever. It may be helpful to you testers to know the kinds of changes we will make or wont make from this point forward.
I'm not dead yet
I also heard that the characters in Warcraft III were going to be able to level completely independent from the structures you control. That means more experience will make them stronger and those bastards that just mass produce won't be nearly as good.
I write the songs that make the whole world sing!
