(Spoiler) Found a way to keep drow stuff!

I found an easy way to keep drow stuff (no SK) after you exit the underdark.
When you have cleared the last area before exit the underdark (after clearing the Kuo-ta dungeon) just give to Imoen all the drow stuff you want to keep (equip her with a strenght enhancing item) and remove her from the group telling her to wait you in the Copper Coronet.
She will leave and will be able to find her way to the surface (other characters will just remain in the underdark).
You can rejoin her in the Copper Coronet and she will have all your drow stuff (Plates +5, elven chains, xbows of speed +3 etc.) and they want be transformed into dust!!!

Any character will do. It doesn't have to be Imoen.

"Elven" chain +3, +5 MR, -1 casting speed (rather good...)

I think that's about it for your cleric/mage, yet still something to hold on to, right?

By the way, Imoen would be the last one I'd send home to make coffee and polish drow armour, as she's already lacking in XP when you get her - usually anyway.

I think that only Imoen can do that, I tried with Minsc and Valygar as firs try and they didn't left the underdark.
As a matter of fact also in spellhold only Imoen can leave it if not in the party (the other Chrt. remain stuck there), maybe is a her special feature.
Valuable drow stuff for me are:
Full plate +5 (AC -4), is the third best plate after red dragon and gorgon plate (for resistance);
Chain mail +5 (AC 0), good for thief, F/T or F/C;
Chain mail +3 (AC 2 + mag. rews. + increase in spell casting speed) good for mages;
xbows of speed +3 (extra attack), best xbows and one of the best ranged weapon;
Drow cloak (+75 hide in shadow and move silently + 1 saving therow) good for thiefs and rangers.

Yes, i think you are right.
Only Imoen leave's the underdark, any other NPC just gets stuck there, which is very silly. Who would want to stay there and die!

You can aslo pause the game right after loading after you exit the underdark, drop all drow items and pick it up later. At least so I heard...

Jaheria will also take gear with her to the harpers HQ in the docks, and Nalia will go back to the keep I THINK. Not to sure.

I've heard this works with jahirea, not sure about nalia,

but my best vote for the smoothest version of the underdark drwo items exploit still has to go to having ferret familar steal itmes for you and you recover after surface.
