getting the amulet of power from aran linvail

I want to get the amulet of power, I guess it's a reward from Aran Linvail. Do I have to give Gaelan Bale the money and then talk to aran? Is that how I get it? Or can I get without giving gaelan bale the money? If i DO give gaelan bale the money, does a new chapter start? will i be able to still do all the little quests in athkatla?

If you side with the Shadow Thieves, once you give Gaelan Bale the money he gives you the key to reach Aran Linvail. After Aran assigns you your first quest, he gives you the Amulet of Power and Ring of Protection +2. I've never sided with the Vampires, but I hear that you also get those two items when you kill Aran and loot his body.

1.yes, you do need to give Gaelen the money the talk to Aran.

2.There is no other way to get the amulet- except maybe in one situation- if you side with Bhodi, you might get it when you kill Linvail.

3.Yes, giving Gaelen the money automaticaly starts chapter 3.

4.Yes, you will be able to do the quests later in the game (during and after chapter 6)

I already beat the game once

I already beat it once, but long ago. So can I give gaelan the money, talk to aran, and get the amulet of power. But THEN, post-pone doing aran's quests and just continue on my way doing windspear hills, temple ruins, etc.? then when im ready i'll go and do arans quests. I just want the amulet of power first.....hehe. And i dont want to cheat.

You can do the quests in Athakala in Chapter (1) (dousn't one start as soon as you go to the slums, so you can do the circus quest?) 2,3 and 6.
So if you pay him, you can still finishe some quests.
