Discussion question: What class NPC is most needed?

Post by Saumerez »

I think there should be another Fighter NPC (any kit).

Your votes? Give reasons if ya like.

Seriously, another full cleric is needed and another thief.

I agree with Grunty on this one. As for kits, I'd like a priest of Helm and an evil assassin.

Good idea on the Assassin astafas Image
Its a nice enough kit at high levels - it would really tempt the PC, say during the underdark, to take the character along.

Sorcerer, there aren't any good mages except Edwin(a) and a pure thief...

Just what do you define as a "good" mage? Imoen and Nalia both can reach 17th level. That's pretty damn good if you ask me, and they have thief abilities on top of that. They aren't GOOD thieves, so I agree that another thief is needed; however I think it has already been pointed out that the designers obviously wanted the player to pretty much have to resort to Yoshimo, for eventual plot reasons.

If a GOOD mage means someone who is either a specialist or someone "better" than a regular mage, then okay (remember that Imoen gets the extra spells, just like a specialist). Personally, one or more specialists would be nice for variety, but another mage is not REALLY necessary.

A good fighter/thief (like Corran from BG1) would be a VERY welcome addition. A regular bard would have been nice, too (not that goofy tiefling). I'd like to see an NPC monk or barbarian as well. There's too much class overlap in the current NPC's.

You guys always call for another thief, but I don't like thieves, and I'm bored that there are FOUR of them already (ok ok, I know, they all suck). I say change the classes of Imoen and Nalia. Make one good thief (or fighter-thief, since we already have yoshi), and one monk or sorceror or barbarian. Nalia as a barbarian is good imagery.

Need/want a good fighter (non evil, kensai would be cool).

Want a sorcerer
