Am I spoiling my experience?

Post by Kew »

I'm playing on the easiest setting and irenicus just went down with (minsc) whacking at him. It took about 10 secs... What is the fight against him like with harder difficulty levels?

Short answer, No.

Easier makes it easier to play the game, and its not a bad idea to do if you are having trouble defeating someone, but I normally keep mine on Core rules or higher, depending on my party. If I can't win a battle (Like the slavers in the temple district) When I was soloing my ranger Cleric, I had to turn it too easy.
But regardless, you get the same exp for each monster/enemy defeated. Though there may be less of them in some areas.
The waves came crashing in like blindness.
So I just stood and listened.

Ahh I figured someone would take the word experience the wrong way. I should've put (gaming experience). Am I ruining my gaming fun by leaving it on easy?

I put my game on the easy setting. And still I enjoyed every moment of the game .There is a fine line between enjoyment and frustration and you just have to find your balance.

Irenicus isn;t hard!!!!
But when you start a new game, I would recommand difficulter settings, just to make it more intresting!
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

Irenicus is totally easy. I had more problems with Bodhi than Irenicus.

The only thing my Cavalier in normal settting got killed by was the group of Demon Knights in the Underdark. Kangaxx was a pain with that imprisonment but still. The twisted rune seemed almost too easy, I didn't even need to spell up.

I don't think easy difficulty screws up the experience of the game. It'll save you a lot of swearing when you have to reload 30 times when you're fighting some nasty stuff.

This is a change from BG1. In BG1 you got less experience if you set the difficulty to an easier setting.

I believe that when you lower you're difficulty you get less exp. in BG1 also!
But then again, ask Gnu!

You get the same exp whatever the difficulty setting (IIRC).

It would be nice, IMHO, if experience WAS scaled to the difficulty level but in the opposite direction ie more exp for easy setting and less exp for the harder settings.

You're only ruining you're experince if you're not enjoying the game. If everything's too boring because of the low difficulty level, then yeah try another one. I always play with the core setting, except when memorising new scrolls when I switch it to easy.

The fight with Irenicus is pretty easy...now. But that's only because I've done it several times. The first time (on core setting) was a nightmare :)

I am playing the game on insane with a F/T after finishing it on core with a Paladin. I am having as much fun, mostly because now I must plan the battles much more carefully. In fact, most battles were over faster than on the first time because I had a better strategy than staight melee (guarded compound, for one).
My only disapointment with insane is: I am alright with suffering double damage from enemies, but get really pissed when Korgan suffers 30 damage instead of 15 after his berserker state ends. It´s really annoying.

Me too, but that's because I always want Imoen to get the kill, after all it's her soul we are fighting for. :)
