Madulf turns hostile

As soon as I talk to the mayor in the umar hills about if he already talked to mandulf, mandulf turns hostile (wel actually the creatures around him do, and kill him)

I realy want the shield, what can I do???
I know i didn;t say anything "wrong" to him

I think I killed him once while playing an evil char and just looted the shield from him.

Maybe they really don't like the idea of being roped in to doing all that work
