Have you tried both the female ore seller and the grumpy little gnome. maybe go and see if the artist has any left

Have you spoken to the grumpy guy by the bar in the Copper Coronet? He is the best source for real illithium.

He is a short male (am I patronising or what?) who is found at the north west section of the Copper Cornet, near the bartender who often talks to and about Jaheira and who runs the place. I mean come on, how long does it take to talk to all, oh my god, six short men in the Copper Cornet.

Just to clarify:
If you've done the Artist (Sir Sarles) quest and obtained illithium to give to him, is it possible to get more illithium for the mace?
I take your point about talking to Sir Sarles about it, but doesn't he run off saying something about having some work to do? Where does he go to?

If you give the real illithium to the artist....no.
