130,000 gold to blow before going to the asylum. Any ideas?

Post by leeman_s »

I just recently finished the Windspear Hills quest, and killed Firkraag in one hit, hehe. Anyways, after selling all my loot I can't use, which is alot since I'm soloing a monk, I now have 130,000 gold. I don't remember if there is anything good to buy in chapter 4, but is there any good monk stuff to buy in chapter 3? I already have the scarlet scimitar, celestial fury, daystar, sling of everard, pale green loun stone, gauntlets of weapon skill, amulet of power, cloak of the sewers, belt of inertial barrier, girdle of Hill Giant strength, ring of protection +2, ring of gaxx, protection from magic scroll, Ilbratha +1 (for mirror image), horn of blasting. Anything to buy that would be useful for me?

Install ToB, visit Watcher's Keep and get the Short Sword of Mask and Firetooth crossbow.

Or get the bonus merchant patch and buy Vhailors helm, plate and shield of Balduran, robe of Vecna and Sensate amulet.

Otherwise invest in spells. You'll end up with a truckload of coin anyway ...

Ya, get scrolls of Mislead, Horrid Wilting, having 99 scrols of MM can be fun, just stack them and put them in a quickslot...

Can Monks Use Vhaliors helm? If so, get it.
The waves came crashing in like blindness.
So I just stood and listened.

ok

I bought the sword of balduran (for the 10% magic res.) which makes me get 88% magic res. when equipped and I also bought the doth'zerkan blade or whatever it is because it's AC+1, which takes me to -11 when equipped. I suppose these should come in handy.

Why don't you put it in a bank or buy a house? :D

Seriously, why not let spell casters join you and let them learn all the scrolls so you can get exp fast. I am sure there is probably 100,000 to 300,000 up for grabs with the amount of money that you have got!

I agree with samcu. think of the future. I would advise opening a portfolio with paine webber. Now is a good time to get in. Diversify with some small and mid caps, throw in a couple of large growth funds, and be prepared to move some of the first quarter earnings into european and asian growth funds. You can't adventure forever you know and monks have a long life expectancy. Be prepared, it's never too late to take up golf.

Or... pick up edwin, buy every scroll you can find and have edwin write them all. You'll get a boatload of experience.
Crush enemies, see them driven before you, and hear the lamentations of the women.

I'd say take half of it, invest in some quality life insurance. Gods know people wandering the Realms need it. Shell out extra for the 'Death Tyrant' policy. Next invest some it a fairly risky, high-earning growth account. My sources say Drow Inc. is going to make a killing in the next year.

Get Edwin to ghostwrite your autobiography: Child of Murder, Lover of Bunnies. Pile every scroll you can find, along with generous helpings of caffeine (read: Potions of Genius) so he can keep working through the nights. The two of you together would be an unstoppable force, taking the Realm's literary world by storm.

NAH... p*ss the lot of it up the nearest wall. Take a year out. Take two. Gamble. 'Entertain' members of the oldest profession. Buy a boat. Sink it. Buy another. :)
