Stuck!
Stuck!
Hi,
I`m well and truly stuck on Dragons Eye 4.
I`ve tried everything and the buggars still keep coming at me.
I`ve tried rescuing the adventurers first and also attacking the priests after getting them to admit that they are evil. Nothing seems to work.
I`m really desperate. It looks as if I might have to give up.
Are there any spoilers to make it a bit easier?
I`ll even resort to cheating if there is a cheat.
Please, somebody-HELP!
Cheers,
Davfra

mm It sort of depends on yopur party..I usually have a paladin and a thief or thief multiclass. I position the thief behind the mage in the library usually with another character (fighter type) in front of him. I position the others around the head priest and have the paladin talk to him. The paladin automatically detects the deception. You could also "force attack" if you have no paladin. Then I have the thief backstab the mage and the other character attack him.He usually dies quickly allowing the 2 in the library to get back to the main room. (the starting room). The other 4 characters should attack the main priest. As soon as the 2 people get out of the library..cast web and/or entangle or spike growth down that hallway..this limits the amount of enemies you have to face at one time. Weak characters can stand back and cast spells or fire range weapons. The more heavily armored types can stand at the hall and hack anything that gets through.

I usually have my paladin reveal who they are right away. Then, my mage casts web in the doorway, my druid casts spike growth (HoW only), and my bard plays The Siren's Yearning, which usually stops at least half of them in their tracks. My party proceeds to fill all comers with arrows/bullets/magic missiles. Then, I have my thief sneak around and take out the High Summoner, which puts a stop to all the monster spawns.

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

You could also battle within easy reach of the exit - then keep running, healing and coming back Once the priests and summonings in the first room are dealt with, take the halls a little at a time...closing doors behind you...and btw, if you release the prisoners - though they are helpful and the battle is quick - you do lose out on exp

This can be a tough fight - lots of backstabs and opponents spill through that door.
Try closing the main door after a few of the suckers get through. I find grease/web/stinking cloud are simple spells that are under-rated but work wonders. 3 or 4 such spells should slow them down long enough for you to pound them with missiles.

Ok, I myself has gone trough this twice with my first party being
Paladin
Fighter
Bard
Thief
Cleric
Abjurer
and my second party being
Paladin
Fighter
Fighter
Illusionist/Thief
Cleric
Necromancer
My whole parties has always been equipped heavily with missile weapons.
As you see my paladin has always found out immideatly that they where evil.
I cast haste on myself BEFORE I chat with the nasty priest.
Once they are detected as evil my whole group opens fire at the priest and kills him in the first or second salvo. Once the librarian enters I'll shoot a double magic missile to kill him. Now should the eldathyn be starting to pour through, there are about 20 eldathyn, a few Yuan-ti and a pair of trolls.
As soon as those eldathyn rears their ugly heads start shooting at them with missile fire. When they get close take it to hand to hand with your fighters and even your cleric(who should be equipped for some heavy combat).
Get your mages to ASAP start casting anything with an area effect at the door opening...as soon as they have fired those magic missiles at the librarian they should start on those area spells. Snillocs snowball swarm, Fireballs, Skulltrap or Stinking cloud should work pretty well.
Keep firing until the trolls have appeared. Once they have appeared start to flank them with your spellcasters and fire of Aghnassars scorcher, Burning hands at their sides. Lightningbolt and Lance of Disruption are a few other nice alternative. ANYTHING to weaken the swarm of Eldathyn that have engaged your fighters. Just keep scorching them.
Once they have been rounded down to numbers that you can handle start to fire Acid arrows and magic missiles at the Trolls and Yuan-ti that are left. Though keep at least 2 magic missile spells for each of your spellcasters. You will need them later.
Once the horde is dead. Go in through the gate. head RIGHT and keep going(kicking down the few enemies that you pass, including the healer) until you get to the master summoner. He should be busy conjuring up some lizardmen and trolls..but lets interrupt him. Keep him pinned with missile weapons. Fire of a magic missile spell if he seems to get close to getting of a spell. DO NOT go into close combat. If you do 2 more Yuan-ti mages will show themselves and they have nasty spells.

-I do not ask for much....
Just worlddomination, chicks and immortality.
Just worlddomination, chicks and immortality.
...and that about wraps it up...
not much mre i can add, except to say that you should kill all eldathyn, yuan-ti and such, then kill the high summoner, THEN go talk to the captured adventurers. They will not immediately charge, but will stay there and allow you to rest. After resting, you should kill them. They are easy, you will suffer no rep loss and they have some spiffy magic items (mage dagger +2...).
(it's evil, i know but noone will ever find out... )
