No, you can't backstab with the Staff of the Magi.
There's nothing a little poison couldn't cure...

What happened here was the gradual habituation of the people, ... to receiving decisions deliberated in secret; to believing that the situation was so complicated that the government had to act on information which the people could not understand, or so dangerous that, even if he people could understand it, it could not be released because of national security.

Yes, you can backstab with the Staff of Rhynn. Basically, you can backstab with any melee weapon not restricted from the thief class.

hmmm is it possible to get invisibility from the staff of magi, then switching to the staff of rynn and remain invisibility thus you can backstab with the staff of rynn even if enemies are near?

i can see you.

Yes, as the "weapon change" between the staves will be instantaneous (if you pause).

But rather use the Staff of the Ram if you have ToB, this one should be very powerful for backstabs ... muwwwaa mwwwaaa mwwaaaa :D :D

It's not like the Staff of the Ram is immediately available cause you have ToB installed now, is it?

Not sure what's your question, but yes, I have ToB installed, and no it's not "immediately available", you have to retrieve the Staff from a nasty nasty ... :D :D
And what's pitiful is that my thief PC isn't proficient in Staff ... he has some 15 proficiencies, but none in staff. !!! :o

I was being ironic. Since you can't get the Staff of the Ram until very late in the game, it isn't really a substitute for the Staff of Rhynn. Thus, your suggestion wasn't, IMHO, that good.
