Genius moment here...final solution of the long debate over dual or multi...

Post by UserUnfriendly »

I was just posting on another thread when I was voicing an opinion on whether dual or mult, when this simple single solution presented itself...

choose dual when you travel with a party, so after you convert, you level up faster cause you are only feeding a single class.

choose mult when travellling solo or with a small party, like around 3, you will become a god by end of tob...

for those of you who remember, me, and whole bunch of others had heated debated over dual or multi few months ago, and the consensus was multis have greater power, but dual had faaster levels. this simple solution set makes this debate resolvable...your party size should determine your class.
They call me Darth...

I'd put it like this: If you solo it's a big advantage to have to two classes from the start, with a party you can afford to specialize and you will be protected during the first time after dualing. The result is the same: Multi if solo, Dual if party. Same counts for small parties if your char has one or two key classes (thief, cleric).

Nope!
Dual all the time!!!
:D

Anyway, I like them because they fight hard in the beginning for
their power.
A multi is good in a small party, a dual is always good! ;)

That's true, but then again, multi is more powerfull, unless you dual kitts! (And offcource you'll do that!
I do not have the touch, nor do I have the power.

IMHO it's impossible to say what's more powerful if you don't define the level to dual at. Eg dc F3/M20 is different from a dc F10/M18 which is fifferent from a mc F15/15. The numbers in this case were estimated, not calculated.

Dual certainly has it's advantages over multi, especially if the first class has a better HD than the second class (-> more HP) or is a fighter (-> possibility to gain mastery).

i think that multi has its advantages as you can have abilities from three classes at the same time while dual only offers abilities from two classes....
so for soloing i'd say a triple-multi would be the best. in party however the dual would be better because multi would lvl too slow.

just my thought.
duh.
