Ranger class questions

Can I use the Dak'kon's Zerth Blade with my stalker and gain one 1., 2., 3. and 4. spell level memorization slots in my ranger, priest book?
Another question: is it better to place proficiency slots in the crossbow or the longbow slot (longbows seem more like a real ranger weapons, but crossbows are more powerfull (Firetooth +5)?

I believe those bonus only apply to mages, but i'm not sure.

For the range weapons, best would be Short Bows.

Sorry, Dak'kon's Zerth Blade only adds bonus spells to the mage spell book.

It all comes down to preference. There are some good bows available in SoA (Tansheron's Bow, Strong Arm, Mana Bow, Elven Court Bow, Heartseeker, Gesen Bow etc.) as well as good crossbows (Crossbow of Accuracy, Giant Hair Crossbow, Necaradan's Crossbow, etc.). I'm a bow guy, so I tend to shy away from crossbows (plus you'll find that you need to kill lots of trolls and there are no Bolts of Fire or Bolts of Acid lying around).

Everytime you Choose to turn into the slayer, yes, you loose 2 reputation.

I would suggest the long bow!
There may be short bows that have unlimited ammo, but they dont match the damage of long bows! As for crossbows, there are no acid or fire bolts to kill the trolls. Well, that's my opinion....

P.S: If i were you, take the archer as a ranger and not a stalker, if you are looking into ranged weapons.

As for the slayer, you have to change back to normal form.

But as for crossbows; it's not true that they don't have fire bolts! Firetooth +5 in ToB fires +2 fire bolts! How long can you be shapeshifted into slayer (can you be shapeshifted longer then with the spell polymorph self)?

You can stay in Slayer form about ~50 seconds
After 4-5 rounds, you'll start to lose control, and take damage every new round 4dmg, then 8, then 16, then 32, then Death.
